The little white devils Also pink, yellow, and blue Will give you a sense of peace Althought, deep down, you know its not true You count them every hour Make sure not to run out If that does takes place Depression and sickness no doubt It started as fun As many things do But now, to get away from the demons Its Hell, we must go through Once thought to kill the pain To make life seem all good Has now consumed my entire existance But all along, I suppose i knew it would I must rid myself of the demons For my family, but mostly myself When i beat this epidemic I can take my life off of this shelf

Great analogy!
The devils on the shelf can be swept in the trash with enough courage. We can dust the nasty remants off the shelf. Now there is room to display new things - a clean and vibrant us. High on life. We get off the shelf for our renewed dignity, genuine enjoyment of hobbies, and time with loved ones. Someone may try to set one back on the shelf, but don't think twice about sweeping it in the trash bin. Life is too good without them.
