I have suffered with this same condition for many years and the last 2 years it has driven me insane gradually getting worst. My Doctor just kept saying I had to learn to live with it but it became impossible. He finally prescribed me carbocisteine which is used for people with COPD, apparently it makes the catarrh less sticky and so makes it easier to to cough up. I have been on this medication now for 4 month, starting on a dose of 2 x 375mg capsules twice a day, then increasing to 3 times a day. Finally I found something that has improved my quality of life. I'm not saying it will work for everyone but surely its worth a try, just be patient with it and make sure you take it religiously!

I have had the problem for over 4 years and eventually decided to have a Septolasty, 6 weeks later the condition is not better and after seeing my Consultant today came away feeling utterly at a loss for how to cope in the future.

Had this problem with catarrh all my life and at the moment I am suffering particularly badly because I have been unable to exercise for 4 months. Regular exercise has always been my best method of control, something to do with hard breathing.

I have the same problem. I own a Health Food store and the best thing I've found is Source Naturals Wellness Throat Spray which contains colloidal silver. Elderberry lozenges are also wonderful for this problem as well. As long as I take those 2 supplements, I don't get the catarrh build-up in the back of my throat. It was scratchy and felt like a lump every time I swallowed. I was scared it was a tumor but know now that I just have to keep my immune system built up and I don't get them. I hope this helps!!
