I had taken about 120 MG of IR Adderall in 48 hours and noticed that my tounge began to swell up and hurt very bad when i ate or drank anything.  After looking around on here for a while i gave up and started drinking water, but it was painful.  I began to sip on very small ammounts of ice water trying to pour it on the right side of my tounge where i was feeling the pain.  (smaller sips until it became painless.  If still feeling pain try clinching your front teeth together after pouring some water in your mouth and tilt your head back and let it slowly slide down.)  I took a sip about every 5-10 seconds for a half hour.(was very doubtful this would work in short term.)  After doing it for the half hour i moved my tounge against my teeth and noticed that the swelling was nearly completly gone, and was more than bearable now.  The colder the water the better, it seemed to help reduce the pain also when drinking it.  I dont advise what i did, it was clearly dumb, but i wasn't keeping track very well.

IF THIS SOLUTION WORKS FOR YOU PLEASE COPY AND REPLY IT AGAIN, I SPENT HOURS LOOKING AROUND FOR A SIMPLE SOLUTION AND FOUND ALL THE SAME AWNSERS OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

I hope this helped somone because i felt like cutting my tounge off until i did this.

ABSOLUTELY caused by Adderall. Start using Biotene Dry Mouth toothpaste and mouth wash. This has resolved it. Commercial toothpaste contains Sodium Laurel Sulfate which is very irritating. Because Adderall is sodium based, it causes dry mouth. Obstain from spicy foods and smoking which is guaranteed to cause sores. Drink lots of water

Adderall causes dry mouth in 35% of patients. Dry mouth leads to a ph imbalance as well as an imbalance of good and bad bacteria, which leads to these sores. I take Adderall and get them too. I'm a singer, so this can be extremely frustrating and impeding.
My dad is a doctor and has recommended Biotene, an oral rinse that help rebalance the ph and bacteria. We've also found two home remedies: kefir is a cultured, yogurt like drink that has amazing probiotic properties. Swishing with that and drinking one to three glasses a day can really help. Also, honey. It has such a high sugar content that it will help numb the sores (it stings at first). Also, honey has antibiotic properties, which is why it literally never spoils. Take a tablespoon of honey and hold it in your mouth for about 30 seconds, gently swishing and making sure it contacts the sores.
I've been using those three remedies for a few weeks and have noticed a remarkable change. I still get the occasional sore, but usually only one or two small ones that last no more than 48 hours, especially if I use the honey method.
If you still have issues, talk to your doctor about switching to Vyvance, which typically causes only 5% of patients to experience dry mouth and doesn't seem to lead to mouth sores.
Hope this helps. Please share this info as much as possible. You're not alone.

Rapid release Adderall does cause extreme dry mouth in most people that take high doses on a daily basis. The dryness of your mouth increases the bacteria in your mouth due to the lack of saliva. It throws the natural balance of your body's defense out of whack. The bottom line is, the dryer your mouth The more sores you will have as well as a higher severity. I use either Act mouth wash for dry mouth and antibacterial or Biotene with the same positive effects.

Many Amphetamine(Adderall, Vyvanse, etc.) users report the same small sores along the tip and sides of the tongue and inside the bottom lip. I've found that sleep is also a huge factor as well. In the vast majority of reports, users had been sleep deprived to even the slightest degree. May not be a surprise then that sleep had been reported as the best cure for them as well. Try get a good night sleep and the sores should dissipate within the next 36 hours.

I have the same sores and irritations in my mouth when I take my adderall. I've found a mouth wash called biotine, it's for dry mouth, but it also is medicated and helps heal the sore spots and makes them feel a bit better

Oh my gosh! I had no idea that this was such a common problem! My tongue gets super sore and as some people have noted I have also noticed myself rubbing it against the backs of my teeth without realizing and then the tip of my tongue gets raw and painful. I also get chapped lips a lot. I have a feeling this has more to do with the effects of the stimulant and a lot of the concerns here are due to tics cause by the drug. Wheat in the world would we do without the internet?! ;)

I take Adderall but couldn't take it more than twice a week due to the painful canker sores that develop in my mouth, and along the sides of my tongue. They hurt! Sometimes they're so bad that I can't eat. I tried several things, but before I get into that, are you sure they are canker sores? Canker sores are very small and can appear as a small dot. If the dot is as big as a dime, that is not a canker sore. Canker sores can appear on the lips where they can be confused with cold sores. Cold sores hurt, but not as much as canker sores. Cold sores are respond to lysine, an amino acid, but canker sores don't. So size, response to lysine and degree of painfulness can help you differentiate between the two.

Cold sores usually go away in 7-10 days. They are caused by the Herpes Simplex II virus, and thus will respond to Abreva.

Canker sores can appear as one dot, a group of dots, and can sometimes form a line--usually along the sides of your tongue. Canker sores usually appear after some form of stress. They are transmitted genetically--so one or both of your parents probably got them.

My theory about why stimulants cause canker sores: Stimulants are amphetamines (speed). In doses given for ADHD or depression, there is probably a small increase in blood pressure and pule. Your metabolism is speeded up a bit. You may exhibit minor versions of the "Fight or Flight Syndrome" which is the body's immediate, unconscious reaction to stress or an external or internal stressor. An internal stressor would be something like an aortic dissection, or a ruptured appendix. An external stressor would be an attack by a sabre-toothed tiger.

Whether people who were eaten by tigers, or died from a dissecting aortic aneurysm developed canker sores is unknown. But when the body is falsely stressed from amphetamines, the body can't differentiate between the kinds of stress--so it reacts. If you are genetically susceptible to developing canker sores when you take a stimulant, your body will process the minute changes in your metabolism, BP, and pulse as a stressor, and canker sores will pop up.

So what to do? I've tried several products that were less than satisfactory. Then I found this stuff on the Internet. It is called "Canker Cure," and it is a compounded tablet of "micronutrients." The nutrients are B vitamins. The dose is X x your body weight. You take your dosage 4x/day when you have an active canker sore. They claim that the canker sores go away in 1-2 days.

The amazing thing is that they do!

That's literally the dumbest thing you can do, you're going to scar your tongue. Go see a doctor.

Try chewing fresh turmeric. It will turn your tongue orange, but it helps a lot!

I get them a lot too, it happens to me when I am not drinking enough water or enough protein when I take adderall. You get mouth sores from stress, any type of stress so not giving your body enough nutrients or not sleeping enough or not drinking water or just being actually stressed can cause mouth sores but the ones you are referring too I notice the most from an imbalanced diet and dehydration. just make a conscious effort to drink water and keep track of it and I'm sure you will notice a big difference, also take a multi vitamin and try and keep you diet balanced and little sugar (too much sugar can make your body stressed out). Hope this helps!
