I am on Adderall for one now and I notice also my mouth so dry now I have blisters on the back of my mouth. I read that we have to keep mouth clean from bacteria since Adderall dry our body then our mouth too. Some bacteria grows in a dry mouth that is why the sores and blisters. I take 10 mg three times at day and that works just fine for me.

Im a 45 yr old male. I use to take 15mg IR adderal and never had any problems. Just the other day i took a 30mg Extended release adderal and within 30min i had swelling and a canker sore on my inner cheek near the back. It felt like i was biting down on my cheek but i wasnt. It seems for me and from what ive read other people say,the Extended release adderal seams to be causing this. Like i said Never had a problem with the IR form, the salt content is different for Extended Release,I wont be taking those again, feels like i had a allergic reaction and my tongue almost feels swollen.

I have the same small sores just like the majority of you, and my doctor of over 15 years looks at me like I'm crazy every time that I mention it.
I have been back on adderall for over 6 years now as an adult in my early 40's and I have been just dealing with the pain of the sores for the past 2 years after my insurance switched me to the generic brand, and none of my doctors have a clue what I'm trying to explain.
I do not take my meds on the weekend and the pain will clear up with the help off the peroxide swish but when I start back on my meds during the week for work, my tongue either feels like it's slightly swollen and/or the small sores on the tip, under and on the sides of my tongue return.
I'm not a doctor, but it is definitely related to the adderall in some form. I am leaning towards the increased bacteria theory as I don't not believe it is completely from biting, pushing or chewing on my tongue. I'm sure I occasionally do, the sores are almost in the exact same area every time and the ones under my tongue are not able to even reach my teeth.
- That's my experience for what it's worth.
Now that I see that I'm not the only one and that I'm not crazy,
Checking to see if anyone has filed an adverse reaction report to the FDA or contacting the manufacturer to see what they know is a good idea.

Been there done that. In my case it was me who was always rubbing it. I used to rub my tongue against my teeth if on adderall. It would become raw and would swell making it harder to not rub or bite it. My friend would grind her teeth so chew gums to help but that make her look horrible. I have find a way to kick that painfull and compulsive habit !! I smoke one and a half pack a day to focus on something else. JOKE ! I quit a 8 years one pack a day habit because adderall would make me crave cigarette constantly, they would make my mouth dryier and kept my tongue from healing as fast as it should . I will give you my own trick to beat those compulsive motor mouvements stimulant might give to some people. At work bring a bottle of water with you and make sure you drink 1.5 -2 litters daily, don't play with it or carry it everywhere just use it as a reminder that it need to be filled and emptied 4 times(4X500ml) . Eat at least one fruit in the morning if you are not the breakfast type of person. If you find yourself clenching, bitting, sucking, rubbing, scratching, etc and can't stop doing so because it seem to be uncontrolable to you or in my case feel like you are trying to sit your tongue perfectly in the middle of your mouth and it always find a way to rub something, shift your focus on something really important and stimulant, a lot more than messing with a tongue or jaw. That is your breathing. Breath from the lower part of your lung, not with your chest. Drag the air from the very base of your lung very slowly and feel it enter your body. As it passes throught your airway try to feel and learn how you are made. Make it enter slow and very effective, without any over inflation, just make it very very effective, smooth, in control and realize how amazing and complex this organ really is. Realize you have let this amazing system, that is a joy to control, work in auto-pilote and do shallow breathing for years. You will realize in a matters of minute that you dont really breath that often anymore. That all your life you have been breathing with only a small portion of your lung continously at a faster rate on auto-pilote, doing a poor job at catching all the goodies in the air that goes in, rushing the filtration (1 micron filter) process and only blowing out a fraction of the waste your lung want out. When you are breathing out now, you are making it smooth and nice and long with a kind of pleasurable resistance that make your whole lung work with no effort, you need to feel like if almost everything that was a waste inside your lung is now out and it will surprise you at how close to peeing or taking a sh*t it feel. You will feel extremely calm and clear headed like if your body was working the right way and not using only a small % of it's capabilities anymore. In a matters of hours or days if you can keep in control of your lungs you will realize this AMAZING thing : Your heart rate will have dropped immensely even if you are on a stimulant. While climbing stair or doing labour you will never feel like you have to compensate after the effort like we see everybody do. They climb the stair with their usual shallow-weak-innefective-auto pilote breathing. Then after the effort end, they have to compensate for all the waste they didn't exhale effectively and all the goodies that was missed by poor breathing. They do so by having their heart pounding faster, their weak breathing become faster( instead of deeper and more pronounced )thus less effective so they need a moment after the effort to return to normal. You, when engaging in an effort, will take stronger and more pronounced breathing but in a very calm way with the feeling that your heart want to slow down like if you where about to dive underwater. You will store in your body the Oxygen needed for the effort before it is used, not after it being used. This is how mammals are meant to function. You will also realize that your breathing is controling every other function of your body. The most important being your heart and the way it will now be able to feed your body with clean and rich blood at a constant, low pressure and low bpm because it doesn't have to compensate anymore for your lungs doing half their job.

I hope this amazing system of yours, you can now control from inside out, will stimulate you so much and give you so much more control over yourself, you will never ever ever ever give a f""" about playing with a tongue, jaw or need a cigarette to occupy your hand or mind for the rest of your life.

At least it worked for me .I hope it will for you Alex Paradis

Hi folks,

I know this thread is very old, but I am quite certain what it is.

Stimulants cause dry mouth. Usually, at least for me, when I have a dry mouth then I will create a suction. I have INCREDIBLY PAINFUL sores on my tongue, in the same spots, every week. The only way to fight it, that I have found, is to keep hard candies or cough drops at a near constant use.

Many say this is from being on too high of a dose. I believe this is being confused. This is from taking too much at once.

I have been fighting to get on IR because it works much better for me when I can control the amount on a day by day basis, but just cap myself at my dosage prescribed. This has reduced dry mouth, increased my response and generally made life better for me.

My doctor doesn't agree and thinks I'm not capable of keeping up with multiple doses a day. f*****g reprobate.

I was thinking of trying the adderall xr hoping that my mouth sores would go away...i am currently using just regular adderall. I do find that my mouth sores improve if I stop taking the adderall all together.

Hello I am 48 years old and I have taken Adderall four times in the past two years each time 1 to 2 months just to be able to focus on the study . I divide the 30 mg to two and I take 15 mg in the morning and 15 mg in the afternoon . I do experience the store and the white patches in my tongue and under my lips immediately after the first dose. It is extremely painful however when I told my doctor she looked at me as if I am crazy . It never gets better nor the body gets used to it it just gets worse and worse . I stopped taking the medication in August and I took it today at 1 PM by 315 I felt the bump coming out they are white and extremely painful . I was just reading all the comments and we are all suffering from the same problem and no solution

Im currently taking 20mg/day and i get a sore right on the tip of my tongue every so often. After a few times, and lots of irritation,  I spent hours looking it up. If ive concluded accurately, mines usually Glossitis. Taking adderall brings the possibility of changing a lot to your body. Your appetite, metabolism,  heart rate, breathing..., so the possibility that it's causing these sores is fairly high, but many things cause sores on the tongue. As it so happens, Adderall can bring an onset of a few of them.

1.As for the tiny little white bumps, they are basically your taste buds inflamed and usually caused by irritation.(Whether from "adderall biting" or something else) Can hurt a lot, but go away soon enough.      2.Could be Glossitis which can look different depending on a few things, though usually looks smooth, whitish, and a bit swolen. The smooth appearance is a result of papillae disappearing, which also explains the lack of taste that comes with it. It can be caused by: Dry mouth, Low Iron (both a possible side effects of adderall) and other more serious cause.     3. The Canker Sore, I believe everyone knows what this would look like. All the causes for Canker sores aren't perfectlyrics known, but they can be caused by bad nutrition causing Zinc, B12, folic acid, and Iron deficiency. (Adderal kills appetite which can cause  bad nutrition) Other than a few different variations, these are the most common don't require treatment, normally. If it's not one of those, the odds are its caused by an underlining issue.
