My name is chris im 28, and have recently been diagnosed with throat cancer. Im on oxycodone 30mgs. 6 times a day( along with many other meds). I live in south florida, and do to recent problems with the DEA and distributers there is a severe shortage of this medicine. Now i dont no why this is a problem, ive just heard the rumors ive mentioned above. Also the place that do have that medicine have raised the price from 90cents to up to $5! I have insurance and these places that do have them are no longer taking insurance for this medicine( when they didi in the past)! And because of the shortage, my age, and so-called "pill profiling" the major pharmacies like CVS, wallgreens, ect.. Will not fill my meds!!! I get other narcotic meds filled at these places, but for some reason they wont fill my oxycodone 30's. At my last doctors visit because of these problems with the oxycodone 30's I switched over to 8mg. dilaudid till im able to get my regular medicine. And ive noticed that it does NOT seem to help nearly as much as the oxycodone!!! Do you have any thoughts on the med change, and the other issue of the shortage. An problems Im have with getting the meds with my insurance, and not being able to fill them at large chain pharmacies? I dont understand this at all. My doctor is well respected, and my prescriptions are easily verifiable! Any feedback would be much appreciated, and I think the fact that you would answer these questions. For a very sick young man. I do not have cancer but I am in the same boat as you as far as filling my scripts. I have two broad based herniated discs, L3-L4-L5, and have been on oxycodone for more than two years. My pharmacy is up from $.90 to $5.00 too! This is absolutley ridiculous! If I hear of anywhere that is filling I will be sure to let you know. Good luck bro!
