Seriously, the people who post on here should be horror writers. I'm terrified. I go in at noon tomorrow (5/13), Doc told me I'll be home in the evening (good ol' USA)... and I'm only off work until next Monday, in theory. We'll see.

It's the full-on 'ectomy for me, my doctor was very clear on that point, but at least he didn't stick the camera up there and gasp. Don't know the correct terminology (though he did use the word "prolapsed") and I think we're talking two, maybe three. I feel like a million bucks right now, the pain has really never been that bad for me, though certainly have had some discomfort right after a BM. Main reason this is happening is that my gastro-enterologist found me to be anemic, and in looking for the source, he came across my hemis (blood in 'loo is not an uncommon issue for me).

So, for those of you in my shoes, fearing an impending operation, I'll do my best to come back with an update tomorrow night, if I'm at all functional. Cross your fingers for me!

It's not far from noon so I wish you luck! I'm sorry to hear that you think that we'd be good horror writers--although if we were, do you think we could get a good book deal? :-)

In all seriousness, I know that you are about to undergo some very serious surgery so I wish you all the best in your surgery and your recovery. I hope that it is relatively painless and that you get better soon. Please keep us posted and feel free to complain here until you get better! All the best.

This is "guest" from above... here's the update:

So far, so good. I understand that it's WAY too early to make any judgements, and I certainly don't mean to say that I feel like running a marathon right now. However, I'm not in the worst pain imaginable. At least, not yet. The local that they gave me before the procedure hasn't worn off yet, and I've got two percocets doing their thing. I can still feel it - that's truth. But after reading all of the terrifying posts on this board, I wanted to do what I could to maybe offer a word of encouragement to those about to go under the knife.

Everyone's experience is different, everyone has different levels of pain that they consider acceptable. My girlfriend says I'm tough as nails, but it would be rude of her to say anything else at this point. I'm not a navy seal, haven't given birth to a 9 pound child, or anything like that. But this is manageable so far. I'll post more later.
