In March 2012, I had a partial hyst, bladder suspension, pelvic floor lift, rectocele repair and right ovary removed (baby #4 weighed almost 11 lbs). Right away I noticed tingling in left calf/foot, was told it was due to being in stirrups for 7 hrs. Six days post-op I was in ER for an infection at one of the vaginal suture sites and pumped full of antibiotics. Three months later testing revealed the tingling was due to nerve damage in both legs. Then I began experiencing right heel pain and IT band tightness that made it impossible to even walk (had been going to the gym). Tried chiropractic, physical therapy, deep tissue massage, and finally yoga. Meanwhile, I am increasingly exhausted and within a year post-op I notice that I am having to splint for bowel movements again. That's when I found out that a CT scan taken in ER the year before showed lesions on my left kidney. Urologist's tests reveal that my pelvic floor is falling again, rectocele is back and left ovary has cysts, but kidney lesions are benign. He sends me to a uro-gynecologist for rectocele and because I feel constant bowel pressure along with incomplete evacuation. After a defecography, the uro-gyn says it's not that bad, take fiber supplements and just ignore urge to go because defecography showed normal function. I explain that stool is just sitting there so my primary Dr refers me to GI for colonoscopy but the appt was made with rectal surgeon??? Exam with surgeon consisted of me laying on my side with the tip of his finger in my anus for 10 sec. "tighten, ok now push" Ok you're fine. WTF? Nobody goes through these humiliating tests for the fun of it! I would love to go back to not thinking about poop most of my day. Going to the bathroom in public places is the worst!
