OKAY JUST SO YOU ALL KNOW IT IS NOT AN STD

there is a 99% chance that it is an ingrown hair.

i get them and treat them like you would a pimple. squeeze until the culprit shows itself and remove the ingrown hair i saw that people have explained how to remove them in previous comments. i've been getting them for a long time and it still freaks me out everytime one shows its ugly face. i've been to the doctor to get checked and the results come back clean. lets face it some of us have been cursed by our fathers with ingrown hairs (damn them)

but more importantly how to avoid / prevent it from happening again.

1 dont shave. ( try switching to an electric razor or waxing if you hate pubic hair)

2 avoid non lubricated masturbation (the dry friction is not your friend)

3 apply fresh under garments frequently. twice a day (this is the most important)

4 if you do happen to disregard my advice against shaving because your lady (or guy) friend want you smoothe then avoid sexual contact the day you shave. wait at least 24 hours. (think ahead) also use a womans razor, or gilette (spell check that) came out with a mens body razor that i found to work well. change the razor frequently for bacteria grows in them which plays a huge roll in whether or not one will appear.

5 practice above average hygene.

6 dont STRESS. stress will only make it worse. it's 50% psychological. when one appears stay calm and treat it as needed.

really hope this helps. if anyone has any questions feel free to reply and i'll get back to you as soon as i can

So I had the same thing a while back, but managed to get the sucker out. I got the hair and the capsule by digging in with tweezers (dumb I know). Sanitized everything and used neosporin after. That was over six months ago, and since then, I have removed 3 cyst like things  from the same hole. There's a bit of a scar around it now, and I squeze out sebum most days. Whenever I would pull one out, a few weeks later another would grow back where the original ingrown hair was, and I have the 5th one in me now. I've already got a scar half the size of a thumbnail there from the first one, and it seems I havent solved the problem. Is there any ointment or remedy I could get that would fix this for good? It's been far too long now and I can't stop myself from trying to squeze it out.

hi guys, there's been a lot of invasive advice on here, like use a knife or a pair of tweezers. while it may work, this is NOT a good idea because it can lead to scarring or additional pain. try an over the counter solution first. Persa-Gel will take care of an ingrown hair. apply 2-3 per day for 5-7 days and you will notice the bump decrease in size.

My two cents… I woke and showered to discover a lump on the shaft of my penis. It was red and sore and sprang up overnight. I had had sex the day previous and not showered after, preferring the scent of us during the afternoon, and failed to bathe that night. On inspection, the lesion was a 5mm reddish bump with a hair at its centre. It was mildly painful to the touch, moreso on squeezing. For months previously I had used depilatory cream to remove hair on the genitals without incident and there was no chance this was a sexually transmitted infection/disease etc.

So treatment. First and foremost is hygiene (I realize now). Sex involves a lot of manual trauma to the genitals, coupled with the generous mixing of tasty media for bacterial growth (secretions and lubricant) plus the introduction of bacteria from a different host. Put it this way, our body can handle our own bacteria, termed commensal flora, but may be shy or surprised by the bacteria present on  your partner. The groin and mouth contain plenty of bugs, so sex can introduce yours to hers and vice versa. Long story short, wash after sex. Even if you like the smell etc as I do, its better safe than sorry and you don’t want to miss out on new sex because youre anxious because of a dirty boil. Lol

The lesion itself. Wipe the area with 70% alcohol or if not available, tea trea oil or betadine. Betadine is brilliant (its brown iodine based stuff) because it kills viruses, bacteria AND fungi. Pull out the hair with tweezers. You may notice that the bottom shaft of the hair has some material on it. This is most likely a combination of white blood cells, bacteria and the follicle. Squeeze the lesion gently to eject any matter that may remain in the wound. Green/yellow material implies bacterial infection so squeeze harder until it bleeds (only a little) to remove all the offending bacteria. You may also notice tenderness in the groin on the sides at lymph nodes. If the fluid from the wound is serous (ie clear/reddish but no pus) then either the infection is a-bacterial (no bugs) or you haven’t turned the nodule enough to allow free passage of the material beneath through the opening. Twist and squeeze from different angles (again gently) to try and remove the yellow material. If it doesn’t come, don’t worry too much. Generously apply betadine or adequate antiseptic to the area and allow to dry either through time or blowing on it. Keep it clean (ie wash hands before urination) and disinfect before bed and after showers. Vitamin E cream will aid healing and the swelling etc should go down after a day or two.

In the end, the genitals are extremely robust and heal rapidly. The cells naturally secrete slightly antimicrobial oils but boosting their efforts with betadine/povidine etc will clear it up ASAP. If these happen frequently, review your cleaning regimen. Some people overproduce sebum leading to regular blocked pores but that’s a story for another day.

Hope this is helpful.

Had the same thing happen to me. Had a huge lump it hurt quite a bit so i heated it wth hot water almost burning myself but it opened up by itself and i did some squeezing and all the puss and blood came out and today i observed it more after about a week or so. It was a hair stuck in their. I dug it out with a clean needle gently and figured out the problem was a stupid hair. Litterally the worat pain ever!

wet it well then apply a little bit of tooth past and leave over night. it opens the pours and should reduce the bump.

john, if you'd like more partners than just that one, I suggest you grow a pair, and just put the needle to it

Guys, If you shave, DO NOT go against the grain. That's what causes ingrown hairs. Shave WITH the grain. That being said, yes, I've had an ingrown hair before. It got to be uncomfortable, and so llike other posters here, I took action.

I had tweezers, Isopropal, and a small knife. Disinfect the area, and whatever "tool" you use, and have at her. Just be very very careful; you don't want to make things worse than they are lol. Anyway, I did a combination of the warm cloth and the "do-it-yoursef" method. After gently squeezing stuff out over the span of one to two days, I was actually able to see the ingrown hair. It was just wrapped in a circle. Using the tweezers, I just took it out, cleaned the area, put a band-aid on it with a little bit of poly-sporn, and within 3 days it was like it was never there! No scarring or anything.

Good luck to everyone!

It's been a common problem for me. I thought it was some sort of std at first but then the hair came out and I had a huge sigh of relief. Don't mess with it!!!! Be patient and put a warm compress on it as much as possible, whenever you can. It'll bring the hair to the surface and you can pull it out then. The more you touch it, the longer it will take to get rid of it.

Hi Im 54 years old and have dealt with ingrown hairs for a long time now...You have a couple choices. 1, Follow what the other posts say or. 2.Just go to your Dad and say...Hey I need to go to a Dermatologist for a private matter...If he asks or if your mom asks just tell them straight up you have an ingrown hair on my private. And need aDoc to look at it...Nothing to be ashamed of or embarrassed by bro...My Doctor said just leaving it alone should be ok...He said use warm cloths but try not to fuss with it or it could get infected...It should eventually work itself out...if not you should see the Doc...Thats what they are there for...Ian

Here is what I did. I had the ingrown hair but the scar and redness didn't go away even after multiple steroid shots from my dermatologist. The only thing that worked after doing research was tretinoin 0.1% cream which increases skin cell turnover and fades the scar and redness quickly. Apply twice a day. You will notice peeling after a few days and just keep going until it is better. Also I applied silicone scar pads to the area during the day and night and it went away after a month or so
