I am 55 years old and my doctor suspect that I have problems with my thyroids. I should go to check for the thyroid hormones. It seems that I have hyperthyroidism. So, I would like to know is blood work for testing thyroid hormones expensive? Also what else I should know about it?

You should know some things. First thing you should know that blood testing is expensive and it can be painful. It can be around $60. The saliva testing is better then blood testing. You can do it at home using the kit that is mailed to you. Saliva may be more accurate in measuring the levels of the hormone of the tissues.

Hi,
Problems with thyroid gland can really complicate your life. Did your doctor tell you anything more about your thyroid gland problems? I am not really sure about the correct price but I think that it shouldn’t cost more than one hundred dollars. Do you have any medical insurance? I think that this gets covered by your medical insurance. I have to agree with germayne. Salivary test might be better then blood test in this case. has your doctor mentioned this as an option at any point? I think that you should give him a call or get back to the hospital and talk to him again. You need to have accurate diagnosis in order to treat it accordingly.
