My father has been a passionate smoker, for more than two decades. Now he has obstructions of blood flow in both legs and angioplasty has to be done. Stents have to be applied in order for him to function normally. I did not have any relation to this procedure before. Is it important which angioplasty products we get?

Well, I assume that the doctors have already made some recommendations on this matter. Usually, stents are made of metal that will not corrode and that will be covered by growing tissue in time. Still, there are some new options available, like drug eluting stents which are also made of metal but are soaked with substances that are not harmful but will prevent restenosis.
