Thyroidectomy is common but not that simple procedure. Your recovery could last for few weeks but it varies from person to person. The important thing is to have enough rest, and try to avoid any physical activities during the recovery. Swallowing will be difficult during the first week and most of the second, but after that you should experience lesser pain.

Considering the alcohol drinking after the procedure, it is advised to avoid any drinking after the procedure.  However I think when the process of healing is all done that you will be able to have a drink without any risks. Your doctor should inform you about what you can and cannot do and you should follow his or hers instructions

I had my left thryoid taken out on Monday. I'm not on no meds. Have a wedding to attend this weekend and was wondering if drinking beer is bad.
