Does drinking alcohol after a thyroidectomy pose any concerns to Blood Alcohol levels? Does the body metabolize alcohol the same after the surgery?

Did you find an answer to your question? Here? Elsewhere? I have the same question and I'm going through some problems myself.
Thanks

Hi there,
When did you have the surgery for your thyroid? If you are considering drinking alcohol immediately after the surgery then you might be making a big mistake and you may even cause damage to your other organs. You have to understand that your recovery may take up to several weeks. You will be able to start normal activities in third or fourth week after the surgery. You have to know that there are possible complications like swelling of the wounds. The problem with alcohol is that your body may not be able to absorb it properly. Have you asked your doctor about this? Also you can drink alcohol as long as you are taking pills.
All the best,
Danella
