my mother in law has high blood pressure so the doctor precribed zestril 40mg once a day. her blood pressure was still high so he precribed amlodipine besylate 10 mg once a day and hydrochlorot 25mg once a day. she is taking all three medications by order of her doctor. she is now very fatigued all the time and her urinary output has decrease. is she over medicating? i cannot see taking three prescriptions for the same condition.

While I don't think prescribing three different hypertension medications is a particularly efficient approach to controlling hypertension, it is not medically unsound or dangerous in this case. The three medications are compatible when prescribed in the appropriate concentrations.

I would talk to the doctor about finding an alternative that might be just as effective, perhaps less costly, and easier to coordinate than using three seperate medications.
