Hi I'm 19 years old and I'm a virgin. I recently felt itchyness and very tender on my inner labia and when I looked I saw one small bump on it. My labia is swollen and very pink. What could this be?

As you described it, it could be a Bartholin’s gland cyst, a tiny gland inside each of the labia near the opening of the vagina which produce fluid that lubricates the vagina. The tiny ducts could get clogged up by the skin cells or secretions and thus form a cyst. These cysts could vary in their size and when they are infected they can be very tender and painful. Sometimes these could be painless but your vagina would swell up.
The treatment really depends on several things; the size of the cyst, how painful it is, if it is infected and how your health care provider chooses to treat them.
You might get the antibiotics to treat the cyst but there are also some other ways of treatment, of course. I believe you will be firstly taken the culture of the fluid in the cyst in order to determine what organism caused the infection.
I hope you will find some helping my post, but however, the last word will certainly have your gynecologist!
