Labia reduction surgery bleeding

I am not suffering from bleeding but the swelling like sausage is CORRECT LOL
i think its normal to bleed for few days that is what my doctor said

Hi Ya! I had my labia op a week ago today and still experiencing some bleeding and still very swollen... :-(

I had my surgery 12 days ago and am still swollen mostly on one side with a a spot about 10m in diameter still bleeding.

I am 72 hours on from surgery, I'm still bleeding a good amount, the swelling is pretty large and the bruising worse, in fact the whole area is black and blue. Not pretty and not comfortable. Did anyone get told how long to expect bleeding for?

I had this surgery done in July and you will experience bleeding for a few weeks. The BIGGEST thing I can stress is to take sitz baths a couple times a day. My discomfort (itchiness, swelling) lasted a good 2-4 weeks before I didn't notice it. Your stitches will pull, you'll be swollen, but I PROMISE it is all worth it!

i have had surgery last week, i am still bleeding, can anyone tell me if there is any antiseptic or creams i could use to help the healing process? as i had surgery abroad

Hi there. Just wondering how u r all getting on now? I had this op done 9days a go and it has been a absolute nightmare so far!!!! It’s been 100times more painful and uncomfortable than I expected or was led to believe! Walking is still extremely painful and I wouldn’t even dare try to sit down! Even the slightest movement in bed has been agony the only way it felt ok was if I lay completely still legs apart!!! ! I literally felt and feel like I have been butchered!!! I can’t imagine for a second this would only taking 5days to recover from as stated in most of the cosmetic surgery websites!!!! It seems I picked up an infection a few days ago aswell which has made the pain so much worse!I was put straight on antibiotics and have been taking them for three days now yesterday was the first pain free day I have had, i feel ok today altjough i have a awful burning sensation think i now have cystitis too as i need the toilet every 10mins!!! Anyway i decided to have a little look yesterday seeing as it was feeling so much better I was expecting to see it healing and looking a little more normal (as appose to looking like it had been though a meat grinder which has been the case so far!!!!) and to my horror I relisted my stitches have come away on the hole left hand side of my labia bar one stitch, so literally the whole thing is gaping open by about half an inch!!! I rang the docs and they have said that this can happen there isn’t much they can do now and to wait till Monday and keep taking my antibiotics to cover any further infection?! I am terrified of it not healing properly and it looking all distorted once finally healed as the stitches aren’t there to hold and mold it into shape?! ? I also have a big lump of skin on the same side at the bottom of my clitoris it jots right out like a sprout on a moldy potato!!! The doctor told me that it was perfectly symmetrical both sides after the op and she was really pleased with it so where has this come from??! Just wondering if this is normal or if anyone else had the same problem and if it will go down as the whole clit is still quite swollen. Im going out of my mind with worry hear!!! Also they don’t worn u (amongst a million other things!!!) how much pain it is to go for a number two a was literally screaming the sweat way pouring off me. Ur total constipated off tablets they give u so going is like passing a brick worst pain of my life as it felt lyk my whole vagina was splitting open cause of the pressure and the tight stitches!!!! And even though it must seem it I normally have quite a high pain threshold hence not being worried and going ahead wiv this op! I have only been once as I am too scared to go now and keep holding it in! Did anyone else have this? Also I fear that is what ripped my stitches!?? i dont no when it happened though as there hasnt bee much blood! another thing i dont no is should I be bathing with an open wound, should I be using salt or creams I have spoke to a few different nurses and they have all given me conflicting advice im so confused and distressed about the whole thing! Please help! :-( xxxxx

hi there. just wondering how you are all gettin on? i had this op done 9days ago and aswell as haivng an infection my stitches have also come away/ The whole left hand side of my labia bar one stitch holding it to gether is gabing open.the wound is about half an inch wide! although i am not in much pain not compared the the last week (which has been agony!!!) it is burning quite badly (and now think i have cystitis aswell as i need the toilet every 10mins!!!!) i also have a hard long potruding lump poking out at the bottom of my clit. which the docter told me would go down but seems to be getting worse! is jotting right out lyk a sprout on a moldy potato!?? i litraly look i have growen an extra clit! not to mention looking lyk i have been butchered alive!its terrifying! m so distressed and upsent about the whole thing and the nurses dont seem to want to help or even no how to they have all give me confliting advice and i can never seem to speak to the surgen who did it i just get told to wait till my post op!!!!! i got it done on the nhs and befor the op she just casualy asked how much i wanted off and got me to show her by drawing a line with my finger?!i felt at the time she wasnt realy paying attention and just said she didnt want to cut to much off as it would look unnatral and i would look top heavy!i was happy with this as i have quite a big clit aswell!but it seems she forgot bout this and has morealess left me with nothing!!!?!then afer she told me it had gone realy well and was perfectly symetrical on both sides! even though the lump was visable then?so what is this lump is it jsut swelling??? i feel really mistreated and neglected and feel lyk im left with something that looks 10mines worse than it did b4!so distressed please help!!!!!

hi i know this is over a year old post, but i have had the same problem as you with two stiches comeing undone and leaving a hole which is painful.

i am on antibiotics and feel this will never end- did ur heal well in the end or did u require further surgery.

also how did u keep it clean, i have been having showers and cleaning with salt water.

I had my bilateral labia reduction done june 8th 2010 so a week ago. I haven't looked at it yet cuz im too terrifyed. i had it done about 4 years ago but was unhappy with the amount he took off (not enough). So this is actually my secound surgery. I didn't do any research when it came to the picking of the doctor i just went back to the same one. we spoke only once before the op and once the day of the surgery. anyway, ive been just beside self with fear and reget. it seems as though my entire labia has been removed and my clitoris protrudes outwardly and the skin around it seems to be gone as well. it feels very swollen but i still can't imagine it going down to a resonable size. my labia seems to be gone so the clitoral hood doesn't even feel like its attached to anything. i lay in bed al day hopeing and PRAYING that no doctor in his right mind could ever think that this is the way a women would want her vagina to look like. now one week after i am already googleing plastic surgeons to fix this mess & to prepare myself for what might be in store.

Wish i had read your blog before having had my labiaplasty a week ago. Rather incredible that you are telling my story.
Didn't look at the results of the operation because I trusted my board certified, head of ob/gyn at a university hospital,
and whom I have been going to for 13 years. I went for a post op visit today and the look in his eyes, I could just feel that
something wasn't right. He was suppose to take the stitches out today which he didn't and postpone it to next wk. Nothing
felt right leaving his office. Came home and got enough courage to look. I WAS AND STILL AM HORRIFIED. Just hope that I
can somehow get past it. He was so confident that he does a good job and how frequently he performed this precedure that
I never felt the need to look any further than him. I have no labia minora left. He completely butchered it. That word is the only
description as to what he did. As a man and an experienced physician specializing in womens' anatomy , how can he think that
what he did is anywhere acceptable! I'm just so sick about it and wish I could wake up from this nightmare.

I know it's been a while since you had your surgery, but I would love to know how your recovery went? I am experiencing a lot of the same things as you and am completely terrified and think I may have made a big mistake. I am almost 4 weeks post-op and still have a lot of swelling and discomfort with horrific looking red lumps all up the sides. I really thought I would be back to normal by now. How long did it take for yours to heal, did you need revision surgery?

o mi goodness, i am sooo sorry for you poor ladies and your awful experiences, but i feel i ought to tell you how well mine went otherwise everyone will be terrified. i had it done 5 days ago under the nhs, chose my surgeon (female - which i feel is most important) - not a plastic surgeon, a gynaecologist. anyway had op done within half an hour, but on top of labiaplasty she also removed an ulcer on my old episiotomy scar (thats where they cut u to have a baby!!). and didnt know about that til i woke up ouch!

i can honestlly ssay hand on heart that there was barely any pain, i have only needed 1 pain killer since coming home. at 5 days post op, i can walk and stand fine, still sore sitting down, but been told can take about 10 days to feel ok sitting once stitches disolve. was dreading doing a poo, but as long as you eat lots of fruit veg and drink its not a problem at all, obvv if u get constipated i cant imagine the pain! weeing no pain either, but every time i go im pouring a small bottle of warm water over the area to ensure wee diluted and keep area clean. no infection so far. ive no idea wot i look like down there as got no intention of scaring myself so early on after the op!
still having slight bleeding, but bare in mind ive also got the episiotomy stitches to contend with as well
