I know this discussion is old, but for those still searching for remedies for this problem....I hope this helps.

I developed varicose veins on my labia during pregnancy #2 at around 20 weeks. I used a couple drops each of Cypress, Lavender and Geranium Essential Oils (Organic 100% Therapeutic Grade) in a Sitz Bath every day or so....This helped SO much with the pain and swelling. The veins were gone within weeks of my daughter's birth...My daughter is now 4 months and they recently came back....but again the Essential Oils have relieved the pain and helped with some of the swelling. I buy mine at Rocky Mountain Essential Oils- a bit expensive, but so worth it!

I'm so relieved to have found this discussion.  I'm currently 23 weeks pregnant with my 2nd baby and have recently discovered vericose veins in my vulva (I also have a small amount on my inner thigh and behind my knee, both of which I've known about for several weeks now).  I was devastated when I found them; it was bad enough on my legs, but my lady parts?!  I had never heard of it before.  It's embarassing and the thought of being intimate with my husband terrifies me because it looks so awful.  My concern is that as the baby grows, the veins will continue to get worse.  Has anyone else found that this is the case?  I have an appointment with my doctor next week and I'm going to bring up the issue then.  As of right now I only experience mild discomfort, kind of like light bruising.  I've been sleeping on my back or left side, putting my legs up when I can, and trying not to sit or stand for long periods of time.  I have some tension stockings that I got for my legs when I found out, but nothing for support around my crotch yet.

My husband keeps telling me that I can have them treated if they don't go away on their own after the baby is born.  While that may be true (and I know he's doing his best to comfort me), I still have to live with the discomfort and embarassment for the next 3 months :(  It's hard to see the light sometimes when it seems so far away.

I am 36 weeks pregnant with my 1st child and also happen to be a nurse.  I work 12 hour shifts and am on my feet most of those shifts.  When I first discovered my varicosities (about 3 weeks ago), I was shocked!  I just thought I was swollen in my vulva, however after a long shift and barely being able to walk following it I pulled out a mirror.

My saving grace has been Preparation H.  Yes it is for Hemorrhoids, but the only difference between hemorrhoids and what we gals are dealing with is location!  It will produce a slight burning after applying, but it's nothing compared to the pain of trying to walk around.  I noticed the swelling going down within 12 hours of first application and can say that after keeping myself slathered for 3 days I was able to work two days in a row of twelve hour shifts :)  Although Preparation H has not resolved my problem, it is keeping it tolerable and allowing me to still function.  I reapply as needed following toileting and use the ointment, I haven't tried the cream.  They make and sell tote-able tubes that fit in your pocket (they also make wipes if you're interested), so you can keep it concealed just as easy as a tampon.  I hope this info can help others - as always check with your OB/GYN or midwife prior to using any new medications!

Good luck and may this problem leave us all following delivery!

I just turned 67, haven't been pregnant for 53 years, and just developed labia varicose veins!  I'd never even heard of it before blood appeared in my undies!  I'm way past menopause, and due to a few too many surgeries (for cancer when I was younger) I have no "g" spot and haven't been able to have an orgasm in more than 20 years, so I can't imagine what "pressure" has caused these varicose veins.

I had them after my 1st child and they went away in a couple months. I got pregnant 9 months later and the vaginal varicose vein came back at 5 months pregnant. Now I am 9 months post pregnancy and still have them and they cause a lot of discomfort and now I also have varicose veins on my groin and inner thighs

I am 30 weeks pregnant and have already been dealing with these veins for a few weeks. My midwife suggested putting potato pulp down there. In desperation I gave it a try. After 3 days the pain has almost completely gone away. It is a short term fix, and will come back if you don't keep it up. A friend gave my cypress essential oil to try. Hopefully that will fix them long term, but try the potato pulp. It works!

My veins look like large blueberries on my left labia and on the right they are a little smaller. When i stand, it feels like I just got hit with a baseball bat down there. Also I'm swollen up above my right groin and that is like a big bulge (not blue veins). My doctor said ehhh - prob not a hernia but my chiropractor is sure that is a common area for a hernia. What do you think?

Also, anyone have trouble delivering? My doctor warned me that if I elect for a natural delivery, I could risk a hemorrhage - I also asked about how common Hemroids are after a natural birth and she said, I bet you have a good chance of getting them because you're already swelling and pushing out down there - your butt is super close and may follow suit. That's crazy! Was it true for many of you?

I had these first with my 2nd child 10 years ago. My youngest is 6 and I still have flare ups during my period. It's aweful. I'm looking for non surgical relief.
