Hi. I`m 41 and was diagnosed with hyperopia with astigmatism. Wanna try out some surgical procedures to treat my eye condition. I was considering Lasik and wonder is there anybody who could tell me something more about it. Can Lasik treat hyperopia and astigmatism?

Well, I know that Lasik may do you good if you have astigmatism, but don`t know much when it`s about hyperopia. The surgical reduction is evasive in that case (hyperopia), but worthy, I guess. I`ve heard that photorefractive keratectomy has been very effective for hyperopia, but it can give you astigmatism, which you already have. Lasik overcomes those disadvantages and is a procedure for treating hyperopia up to +6.00 D. Low hyperopia can be treated with good results but it has its` problems.
