My wife was told she has neuroendrocrine cancer stage 4 with unknown primary site. Her hip bones and tail bone is ate up from it. She has 8 vertbrae affected and 14 oter areas with a mass mainly in the abdomin area. We have asked the doctor what her life expectancy is and he will not tell us. Does anyone out there have any information that might tell us what we have to look forward to no matter how bad it is?

The doctor will not tell you what your wife's life expectancy is because he simply does not know. Life expectancy can vary widely for the same condition in different people. A positive attitude, prayer, and social support can help prolong your wife's life expectancy.

I agree. I apologize that you cannot get a straight answer from your doctor but it sounds to me like your doctor does not really know. It would be your doctor's duty to inform you if he had a better idea so what I can tell you best is to take it one day at a time and make sure that your wife feels comfortable and supported no matter what. Please let us know if we can do anything to help.

My mom has the exact same thing. Endocrine carciniod cancer with no primary. When she was diagnost they told her she had 6 months to a year. My mom has been living now for 5 yrs. It's been a battle though, she has been on many treatments, many clinical trails. They kept her alive and her faith in God, and support from family. Her battle is now taking toll on her, and the doctor said there is nothing else they could do, since she had so many tumors everywhere, she is now on Hospice, and we are taking it one day at a time. We all thought 5 yrs ago that we would lose her, but by the grace of god she has been with us, and still hanging on.
