I have been diagnosed with epididymitis (swollen testicle and pain).

I took doxycycline for a week and levaquin for three weeks. Eight weeks after the pain started, and four weeks after finishing antibiotics, the pain and swelling remain, although a lot less.

My questions:

It has been years since being with anybody other than my wife. Neither of us have ever had symptoms of gon/chly. Could those infections been dormant for years and caused epididymitis now?

If this had been caused by gon/chly, would the antibiotics have cured it?

If so, shouldn't the pain and swelling have disappeared by now?

Most STD's respond to antibiotics.

Epididymitis can be in response to any number of things, including trauma, minor infections, or STDs.

I wouldn't go looking for an early undetected case of Gon/or chlymidia as the cause of your current epididumitis.

Talk with your doctor about your ongoing pain and concerns. It's possible you need a different regimen of antibiotics OR that the condition has been mis-diagnoised. Work with your doctor.
