I just read some stories about the liz franc fracture. I had a really bad fracture. Surgery and pins and the whole 9 yards. When I got my 3rd cast off they just told me to walk and no physical theropy....... Well that did not go over well. I still have bad pains and when I work out my foot just throbs after. My big toe is always in pain and numb. This was the worst injury I have ever gone through and I have been through a lot. I was an athelet my whole life. I hurt myself over a year ago and it still haunts me everyday. If there is one thing I could take back in my life it would be that night and not falling. So anyone out there who is going through this, I feel your pain. Hopefully things end up better than myself.

the wife has a lizfranc fracture at the moment, and she was in immense pain at the time, all is healing well, except for the fact that she has to be off work for almost three months! no weight bearing....I am her primary caretaker and she is doing well after almost two months, and she is becoming more mobile than she was initially....so that is a good sign....she won't like to hear that you are still in pain,....but is there any residual affect on your walking? I think she feels she is going to be a cripple all her life.....PL .....anyone out there had any residual affect from the fracture?

I had my injury back in june of 08, surgery a month later (long time i agree, in the military, they take there time) went thru some complications with a blood clot in that same leg. Well, after all that was taken care of they took the screws out of my foot 6 months later. At first the foot almost felt like new, was going thru physical therapy for sometime before then and was looking up for me. Well thats where the good ends, the foot still has terrible residual pain, been on the max dose of gabapentin (which i dont believe does ANYTHING), anti-depressants to help out with the pain: effexor xr, cymbalta, and now zoloft (i believe that cymbalta made a bit of a difference), and have had sleeping troubles being on: pamelor, ambien, lunesta (worthless pill) and looking into doing sleep studies. My walking has definitely improved since putting my foot back together, but i have a permanent limp now due to the severities of my break. Sorry if this breaks anyones spirits, but make sure you get into physical therapy its a must.
