These long itchy raised welts appear over my whole body at random. Sometimes the arms, legs, back, scalp gets very itchy. My fingers and legs and feet are swollen and itchy. I've been tested seropositive for RA but RA doctor wasn't interested in my "numbers". I've been tested again but haven't heard anything. Interestingly these itchy welts started up about 7 months ago three days after a shoulder replacement. Benedryl or Allegra helps but only lasts a few hours.

Hi, guest.

From what you have said, it sounds like hives, which can be caused by an allergic reaction, an infection, or another underlying medical condition.

Depending on the cause, your doctor may prescribe medications, such as antihistamines or corticosteroids, to help reduce the itching and swelling associated with hives.

Additionally, if you are experiencing severe itching, you may want to use over-the-counter anti-itching creams or ointments to help relieve your symptoms.

You said that your doctor "wasn't interested in your numbers". Why is that? What has he told you?
