Ok I figured I would start a new thread on this since the ones I've read on here seem a little old, so here goes. I've been taking Norco 10/325 for almost six years now. I took three a day for the first four years, but now I'm up to sometimes as high as seven per day, usually five per day though. I run out early every month, and I end up buying them from a guy in the neighborhood, thats when I realized its time to quit. I started taking the Norco after a traffic accident in 2005, not that I really needed them but at the time I figured what the hell the doc gives them to me with no problem, and now I'm an addict. Long story short I've tried guitting cold turkey a couple times but went right back. My last attempt lasted four days, I actualy thought I had it licked, but day four was the worse, and I caved. I feel like I cant function with out them, and it sucks. I work for myself and cant afford to take any time off, but i guess at this point I have no choice. I'm hoping someone can give me some advice on home remedies, or vitamin supplements that will help with the misery of withdrawal. Today I'm taking my last two so tomorrow will be the first day without any norco. The only thing that helped me a little bit with my last attempt was watching movies, and sleep aids. On day three I went into my basement and blasted some slayer while lifting weights, punching, and screaming, (I was furious at myself by that point). That seemed to help big time, untill the fourth day, thats when hell broke loose. Day four I couldnt stop sweating, aches, and pains, no appitite, felt like my blood pressure was through the roof, face was bright red, legs hurt, stomoch cramps, restlessness, and major fatigue. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I am going through the same thing you are right now and trust me it is no picnic.  You can read my thread if you want so you can get my background. One thing I can tell you is there really isnt a magical cure other than another medicine that you have to withdrawal from, (another opiate or opiate like drug). Everyone is different but my first suggestion is to taper, make those last pills last, then you will probably already be in slight withdrawal already just from not taking your normal daily dose. Ok so the day you haven't taken any try and take it easy on your body, watch movies relax, if a friend has any anti-anxiety medicine like clonopin, clonazopam, xanax, that can really help with the tremors and with sleep and anxiety. So this is what I did, drank water, green tea, hot baths really help I would sometimes take three a day!, Take a multivitamin, vitamin C, 1 mg or 2 mg of xanax or clonopin a day for the first five days, but before you do any of this, you might want to tell your doctor you want off them first! He can probably prescribe you a care package like the anti-anxiety medicine to get you off of it. It is a hard road my friend and I am yet in the clear, this is day 6 for me and I can tell you day four and five were the WORST and it is getting a lil easier mind you I have taken a 500 mg vicoden and a 30 mg oxy in these last 6 days from taking 60-70 mg every day, I dont really consider it a total relapse, just kinda a taper method. But, just know it does get easier on day 5 and 6 and we can do this man! Today was fathers day and day 6 for me and I actually went out and saw my dad for a bit.  Also I keep telling myself, I just have a bad flu, ill get over it, cause you know you can't do anything about having a flu, kinda like you cant do anything about these withdrawals, so that may help trick your brain. good luck, ill pray for you, and wish me luck too.

Hey you guys:) Just read your posts and I just got off of 7 YEARS of methadone! I did it at home-and guess what? It CAN BE DONE:D I am 2 MONTHS clean today! And I feel AMAZING:) You have NO idea how great it feels to NOT be on drugs because you are so used to functioning on them for so long. REMEMBER that when you go through a bit or a lot of wd symptoms. It will NOT last forever, and if you eat PROPERLY, drink LOTS of water, use a heating pad for leg/back cramps and hot baths with epsom salts in it. Also, be sure each day to take a good multi vitamin (with minerals)....your body needs this because of all the drugs that literally was SUCKING the LIFE outta you!  Use immodium for diahreah, gravol for upset stomache, and drink BOOST or ENSURE-even half of one if you CANT eat anything. Yogurt and EGGS hard-boiled each day gave me my energy back more and more each day. The secret is supportive family and friends who DO NOT use drugs at all. I can assure you that after one month or even a few weeks-you will notice how much better you are feeling! Dont give up guys!  Also, USE the phone help lines for phone counselling at a detox place-they are trained proffessionals and are more than happy to answer any of your questions or even to just encourage you that you WILL get through this! (an extra incentive is......your senses will come back to you in a way that will amaze you! Remember sex? Orgasms? well its like it was on a pause button for years for me-and now? Well all I can say is HOLY COW.....lmao! Stick with it! You wont regret it!

So I am only on here cause my "boyfriend" decided he was gonna quit taking his pills, flushed them the other night cause I was and am sick of his addiction to them and alcohol, I have a sick baby and don't feel like I need a sick guy in my life, so as I hung up my phone on him, text and told him it was over and blocked him he decided it was now or never. I didn't expect him to cold turkey it at all but maybe he know best, I quit meth cold turkey 8 years ago so I don't know having a hard time understanding what he is going through but he says he hurts doesn't feel good. Don't know how to help him? Any advice
