Wow...Thank you everyone for the info...I have been suffering from the same symptoms and I also have an IUD since december...I was worried that it may be infected which was causing the cramping; which it still might be. Now, I feel a little more at ease knowing that it could be other symptoms...not that they are better. I think that the idea that I am not going through this alone is very helpful. Thanking you all once again for posting...I am going to the doc tomorrow.

Yes I have had the same thing. I only get it at night and it hurts really bad. I can't lay in any comfortable position. I'm usually up all night! Its in a lower right side and back. It doesn't feel like gas. Then in september my period was a week late and I spotted that week that it was late and then it came. I do believe its an ovarian cyst but I have no way to a dr or hospital. Even if it is can they even do anything about them? I would love some help. I take tylenol to prevent the pain but it doesn't work. It doesn't happen every night but it happens pretty often. What should I do?

I am glad I am hearing that I am not alone. I have all these same symptoms. I am also experiencing extreme pain in all my joints. I thought that I may be experiencing an urinary tract infection, but 3 urine test have confirmed, NO, NO, and again NO. I then discussed a kidney stone possibility with my doctor, and after two years, and not passing a stone (the pain is still radiating the same as before) I am guessing it is not that. I too have the majority of pain, late at night when I am simply tired and when I wake in the night to urinate, and am faced with sitting on the side of the bed, begging for the pain to subside. I have noticed that my bowl movements seem not consistent all through the day. I have several (more than 3) a day. I am mid forties and I am female. I have had seven children and my tubes tied seven years ago. My weight has increased ( 30 pounds) over the last two years after the death of my mother who died of cancer. I have had stress more than I have had my whole life since her passing. Our financial stress has increased ten fold as well. But my blood work is perfect. No high blood pressure, no diabetes, no high cholesterol....I look good on paper. I just feel like sh*t. Oh, and with everything in me...I AM NOT DEPRESSED. I have a full life of stuff to do. An amazing husband, and the best kids ( who are not perfect, but they are good people making their way). I can talk about my feelings of joy or sadness or anger. I am really having symptoms of pain and can not get the answers.

To be honest, I was hoping to find answers by reading this blog or whatever it's called. It's rather sad to have it confirmed that our doctors really are just "practicing" medicine, and arent' very good at performing as healers. I felt perfectly fine and great a week and a half ago, then woke up one morning with lower back pain. Next morning, same thing. Both those first two days, it went away after several hours, and I just felt a bit achy back there. Then the third day, the pain got severe, and I couldn't reach either my primary or OB/Gyn. I went to the clinic two days later (it was the weekend), and she didn't think it was a UTI, but gave me antibiotics for one. Monday, went to my doctor's office, because I didn't think it was a uti, and they just followed along with that EASY diagnosis. Tuesday, started getting pain very low pelvic abdomen area as well, Wednesday, ended up in the ER the pain was so severe. Went to doctor again on Friday- by now between ER and doc, ruled out diverticulitis, appendicitis, UTI, kidney stones, all urine and blood look normal, no fever, no infection. He says follow up with my OBGyn, who I can't even get in to see for another TWO WEEKS. Yet, I'm supposed to function and go to work? I've missed 4 days of work already now. I'm just appalled that what we're churning out of medical schools is a bunch of fools who memorize certain common, easy answers, and who are no longer detectives actively trying to find out what is wrong wiht their patients. He actually told me to just take the painkillers they prescribed if the pain gets too bad, until I follow up with the OBGyn, and if she can't find anything, he'll try to think of something else to look at. UNACCEPTABLE. I'm looking at my insurance today to find another doctor. I can't and won't live with this pain and become a drug addict just because my "PHYSICIAN" wants to earn that easy $100 for a 5 minute visit and not DO HIS JOB. Thanks for all of your postings. It really clarified this for me. Best wishes and luck to everyone here. I will definitely post back when I find out what's causing this. I need a full night's sleep!

Hi, I've been suffering from these type of pains for about a year already; though I suffered from ovarian systs about 7 years ago I did not experience this kind of disconfort.

On the other hand, I just had a colonoscopy done about 4 months ago due to difficulty to digest my food, chronic constipation and just an endless list of symptoms related to the GI system, however I did not mentioned the lower abdomen and lower back pain to my stomach doctor because I did not think it was related. During the colonoscopy my doctor found Hemorroids and colitis; I'm trying to figure out if those two diagnosis could be causing the pain! I will need to follow up with him and ask him so.

So here's some food for thought for all of you and I also have learned some things from your postings.

Wishing a good health to all of you and a prompt cure.

Wow. So many of you have the same symptoms as me and I just went to a new gyno yet again to determine that THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH ME. So what is this chronic pain in my lower right abdomen that extends to my lower back. Sometimes it feels inflammed, sometimes it feels better. I don't know what the heck it is. I've had all the tests but I have yet to see a GI doctor. I was told that it could be IBS causing all this. My female doctor said to try probiotics and perhaps lactase since I told her that it seems to flare up with dairy products. Has anyone else been to a GI doctor for these exact symptoms? Just wondering if it's worth my $$$.

I have been dealing with this pain most of my adult life. I can't get any answers either. I have had a partial hysterectomy in the past due to endometriosis as well as my bladder put in a sling and my rectal wall reinforced. And I am only 27. I did read that endometriosis can spread to you intestine as well as BEHIND your liver. The reason I stress behind is because the only way they can find it is to remove your liver during open surgery. Neither is well known so mention it to your doc if they are willing to listen. I haven't been able yet to find one that would. I honestly believe that all of my symptoms are due to endometriosis that spread during surgery because my symptoms are usually spead about a month apart and I can always smell what smells like endometrial blood during bowel movements during that time period. It sounds far fetched but it is the only thing that makes sense. Please let me know if this helps anyone out or if you can find a doc that will listen.

I too have had a full hysterectomy for chronic pelvic pain and I am 32. I hate it. I don't think I was fully informed but nevertheless I have severe pain. I now believe it to be my lower back as the culprit. We have nerves that connect, just like the pain with cramps, and when I press on my lower back it feels like a deep bruise. Funny thing though, I have not injured myself or have lift anything heavy. This has been for almost 2 years. I hate pain meds because pharmacies, doctors, etc. all make you feel like your lying when your a day early or the medication is just not working...Any advice, and I do know what those are going through with this... >:(

For the past 2 years I randomly will wake up in the middle of the night with these agonizing pelvic/abdominal - i don't know what pains. I cannot figure out what is causing them or where the exact location of the pain is. I always wake up with it (it is never during my waking hours) and it always lasts anywhere from 15 to 40 minutes. Whenever I feel this pain I do not know what to do with myself and I go to the bathroom (mainly because I feel like something is about to fall out of me - I had a cyst pop a few years back and something in this pain is very similar to that experience) and I have a bowl movement (I am not sure if this is related because I cannot figure it out). I also become extremely sweaty and nauseous and dizzy. Another little fact is that I also have two uterus. I have been on the nuva-ring for about 5 or 6 years now and I do not want to switch but this might have to be my last resort now to see if my pains are being caused by this birth control? I have had repeated cat scans, physicals (blood and urine tests), ultra sounds, pelvic exams, etc. and they all come back normal. I have gone to several doctors and they all do not know what is wrong with me! I have started to take this matter into my own hands now because no one else can figure it out. I am recording every night that I have these pains and I am trying to understand where they are coming from.

I had some weird feeling about endometriosis happening ever since I learned about it in school and many of you already mentioned this, also my cousin just took care of her kidney stones which seems familiar but not the same pain. The only other thing I noticed that many of us had in common is some sort of cyst experience.

Maybe we can all figure out what we have in common so that we can work from there - process of elimination!

Here is one more person with the same problem. I have lower back pain, lower abdominal pain mostly on my right side. It usually only occurs at night. This last episode I would get very nauseated.I have had cysts removed from my ovaries, I have had endometriosis surgery. My menstral cycle has not been normal. Some month's I have two periods. I also have alot of clotting. My appendix has been removed. I have been having symptoms which feels like bladded infections. I have been to my doctor and several trips to the ER. I have had cat scans done pelvic exams urine tests. I recently seen a Urologist specialist and had my bladder examined. The doctors act like there is no problem with me. But by golly gee there most certainly is a problem or it still wouldn't be going on. I have also had pain all the way across my stomach. I hope they figure it out soon. I sorry other are experiencing the samething but I am glad that I am not the only one.

I had the same problem and it turned out to be I was lactose intolerant. The milk from the cereal made me sick. The pain went away when I stopped drinking milk. I figured it out on my own. After 10 years of pain. NO doctor could tell me what was wrong.

I have been having these pains for over a year or more. Been to many doctors and have no answer yet. Also have had a hysterectomy and hate feeling this way and having the doctors not coming up with an answer. Glad to see that I am not the only one. Sometimes I think I must be crazy am seeing a therapist but it doesn't help the pain. Maybe I'll find an answer some day. The pain varies in intensity but never goes away entirely.
