My daughter age 19 had l.p. 6/18/16 they tryed 8 times and still didn't get it done. She has lots of back pain still.
After the l.p. they had her lay on her back for 1 hour then sent her home and told us to go about daily life as normal.
We have had our regular Dr try to get paperwork from the hospital it was done at ,they just keep saying there are no results to send.thetest was never finished. Any opinion about what to do now?

Hi,
My story is similar to yours. I had LP and then blood patch a day later. It's been over a month but my back still hurts where the needle went through my back.
Have you ever found out what the cause of this pain is?

I had a spinal tap and now I'm paralyzed and I tingle all over my body. Could the spinal tap or lumbar puncture paralyze me if certain nerves in my spine were hit by the needle?

You are not suppose to lay flat on your stomach for that prosedure , you get in like a fetal position during the procedure, and flat on your back for a while after. I'm going for an MRI this week cuz I think him poking me 4 times to get it right caused nerve damage possibly. Ive been bad ever since too.

I've been in a wheelchair ever since I had a bad lumbar puncture from a junior doctor without consent and I haven't met a single person like me so far, so I'm so happy to have found you. My knees give way underneath me - they were dropping as you said for a few months, but then gave way altogether and I've been in a wheelchair ever since. Always having bad spasms in my back which I'm on Gabapentin (nerve pain medication) for. Please, please reach me back if you see this xx

I had a similar situation. I had bacterial pneumonia in August of 2014, in October the bacterial infection had 'settled' in my spine (I was told afterwards) and I was having terrible headaches, more than migraines. I went back to the ER, as I'd been "sick" for a few days (headaches, vomiting, lethargy). The ER Dr. Did a LP in the exam room, admitted me, another Dr performed another LP the next day, and another later that same night (* all were reporting not enough fluid to get a good reading & the third Dr literally was reading the instructions on the top of the sterilization packet the LP kit came in- my wife was there. I was on iv meds, so I wasn't as focused on him, as my own misery), still after 3 attempts, no success. Finally, on the third day, the labor and delivery anesthesiologist was called in to administer the LP. He was able to retrieve enough fluid for a reading (I think). I would then be transferred to another hospital, with more sophisticated equipment and resources for treatment of bacterial meningitis (they think/thought).
It's 3 years later, and now days, I may have two days a week that I'm not hindered with my lower back pain. The last 4 days I'm miserable and can hardly walk. I've had CT scans, X rays, MRIs and every doctor says there's nothing wrong. But my wife can physically point out lumps/knots on my lower spine that are extremely sensitive to the touch, and when aggravated, radiate pain throughout my upper back, and down the back of my legs. -'-- Nothings Wrong???

I'm praying, as I research for any type of help or relief.

I went for a lumbar puncture today and the Doctor could not finish. He kept hitting nerves and I felt like I was being electrocuted. The pain was so severe into my legs and feet. Finally he said he couldn’t do it. So now what?

Well why not when you fail it destroys the quality of ones life. Not the same when a plumber fails.
