I am scheduled for tomorrow for a lumbar puncture test. I have had a car accident last week and it seemed as if I passed without a scratch. I did pass out, I hit my head, but there was not any bleeding so I assumed that everything was ok. But, several days later I have started feeling headaches and some burning sensation down my spine. Is there any lumbar puncture pain during the procedure? What could be wrong with me?

Lumbar puncture is a common procedure today. It is performed to determine the status of CSF (cerebrospinal fluid). It can tell us if there is any medical problem in you nervous system and it is also used to relieve you from the pressure caused by that fluid (again, in some pathology). It is not painless but it will help the doctors in finding out what is wrong with you.
