Hello. I have been having some dull achy pain on the left side of my chest for over a year now. I am 33 and was previously a light smoker for ten years. When I say light, I mean 1-5 per day. My doctor first thought my pain was heart related, but that has been ruled out. The doctor decided to finally do a chest Xray yesterday and they saw some scattered spots and maybe a shadow around the heart area on my left lung. I have not had any coughing, wheezing, spitting up blood, weight loss, or any other symptoms. They are sending me for a CT Scan, but I am freaking out.

Hi Guest,
Not all "spots" are cancerous. You can have nodules, in fact they are fairly common.
Your doctor is correct in ordering the CT scan, it will better help image what they are seeing. You might need a biopsy at some point.
Hang in there. Keep us posted.
