Have been taking Gabapentin and have bad reaction to some foods and alcohol even in moderate amounts. There must be something out there that lets me have a drink or two and not have this stomach acid reaction

Hi!

I'm on lyrica for about 1 month (100mg/day).

3 days ago i drank half a bottle of wine and some vodka after (i'm used to drink a lot more when i go party). The next day i was sick to death, vomiting for 5 hours (1 time every 15mn). Yesterday i was still feeling very sick. Today only sick, but its awfull anyway!

3 days hangovers are not for me... I will never drink again while i'm on lyrica... :|

Hi:  I'm on 150 milligrams of Lyrica perd day.  I alto take Cymbalta.  I normally have two glasses of wine each night with dinner.  I must say that I've never become ill as some of you have described.  I actually feel no symptoms.  I suppose I could give up the alcohol if I had to.  But since I also have a heart condition, I'd like to stick with the red wine.  Maybe I'll reduce it to one drink with dinner.

I as well get violently ill when mixing alcohol and Lyrica. I am on 100mg/day and went to a friends house the other night and had approx 3 glasses of wine. I went from being fine to laying on the bathroom floor surrounded by my friends. I was aware that they were there but could not respond to them. It was like having a 'body stone' or 'body buzz'. It was horrible and embarassing so I would not recommend Lyrica and alcohol. I had no warning. The next day I was really sick to my stomach.

I take Lyrica, twice a day, 125 mg. at night and 75 mg. in the morning.  I have Fibro.  if I have an occasional drink, usually wine, I have what I call a flare up the next day, Lifeless, achy, on the couch.  Anyone else have this feeling?  It's really a hassle, I am not a big drinker, but have always enjoyed a few glasses of wine.  Now I'm afraid to even have that!

I am on 1 300mg x3 (900) of Lyrica, 1 325mg of Tramadol x1, 1 60mg MS Contin x1 and 1 25mg Elavil x1/day. My doctor told me to stay away. Though different people have different side effects. The aftermath for some could be drowsiness, seizures and for others even death. To me anything that could result in your death is just not worth the risk. Especially for just a light buzz to help you enjoy social gatherings. So, while I can't stop you from doing what you want to do; all I can do is offer advice and say to stay away from the alcohol. I may not know you but your family and friends do and I am sure they would rather see you sober over seeing you deceased or suffering from irremediable damage to your body or brain and nervous system. I hope this helps but more importantly I hope this makes you make the right decision.

Pain is something I get used to. After only 2 years, a failed total right knee replacement with severe pain in my tibia and fibula, can't stand for more than 10 minutes, numerous key hole surgeries to my left knee, screws in my left shoulder, I lost count of the operations in my left ear and have no hammer, anvil or stirrip left, chronic osteo-arthritis in my spine, hips, knees, ankles, wrists and fingers, still have a broken nose and 2 broken toes, had 2 heart attacks in 8 months with 5 stents and now have further heart blockages and more. Yes, I did play footy at the highest level, and am now 68. I can't take anti-inflamitaries and other drugs due to my heart condition and heart medicines. I have been taking 75mg of Lyrica twice daily for 5 months and my GP upped the dose to 150mg 3 weeks ago. However, I have a bottle of red wine (not cheap rubbish) almost every second night before dinner. I sleep well on these nights but only cat nap without the wine on the other nights and have experienced no side effects. I am monitored by the medical profession regularly. Comments ???

Did your doctor allow you to take red wine while on Lyrica? i am also on lyrica and when I drink two glasses of wine at night, I sleep well and I feel much less pain the next day. I have experienced this many times. For me lyrica alone does not help but when combine with redwine it works great. But surprizingly, if I replece wine by beer, my pain gets terrible. So, there must be something in redwine ( probably some kind of inflamatory element) which is working against the pain

I have taking Lyrica for two months now, 100mg x 2 per day. I've not noticed any side effects in taking it and drinking...that is until last night, thus my research and finding this forum. I had taken my evening 100mg dose about 8:00pm. By 9:45 I went to a sports bar to watch a boxing match. I had two "tall" Newcastle Brown Ale glasses of beer while there. I noticed an abnormally high buzz (as other sites report it amplifies the alcohol's effect) and when I got home I was very drowsy and dozed some on my wife's lap. I was having an odd dream and as dreams jump around and tend to not make sense neither did my behaviour. I was still asleep however, I was sitting up, had a paper plate in my hand and was telling my wife about a map and Bill Clinton and some other goofy stuff. When she asked what in the world I was talking about, initially I was shocked that she did not understand but as I became more aware and awake I realized that I was dreaming out loud!! It was total non-sense but to me it made perfect sense until I was fully awake. So the moral is: Alcohol and Lyrica do not mix and extreme caution should be exercised if doing so until you know how your body will react. Everyone is different as this forum dictates so be careful!!

On lyrica for 2 months now. Occasionally drink wine or beer. The only thing I have noticed is the lyrica really amplifies the affect of the alcohol. Three glasses of wine or 7 beers and I am pretty impaired.
