Well, depends on what you want to achieve but generally from any aspects-physical and psychological meditation practice does make perfect results. But all depends on how you do that-if you just sit down without thinking on anything that's wrong way. Meditation is much more than people think it is-it is about deep concentration free of any negative energy or thoughts and it is about proper breathing and about special atmosphere. And if you provide those parameters than you could hope that through some time of meditation meaning of prolonged practice you could make perfect results. And those results are manifested in good mental and physical conditions that are actually cause of relaxed nervous system achieved through meditation practice.

Yes, practice makes perfect. I also suggest that if it's your first time to meditate, you should do it with the supervision of someone who knows what he/she's doing so that you'll also get advice on what's best for you to do. Start with supervised meditation for a month, after which I'm sure you'll be fine on your own.

I have found that the more I attempt meditation, the easier it gets to concentrate on not concentrating at all. I do agree that the first time is best when you have someone to guide you, in fact I find meditating with someone nearby is the best technique for me. I like to listen to Native American drums and flutes when I meditate, and breath with the rhythm of the music. Doing it frequently and consistently is also a good piece of advice. It always gets easier to concentrate on nothing and clear your mind when you have taught yourself to push thoughts away from yourself.
