Hi all. I’m 62 and in menapause for 3-4 years. Anyway, event though I’m coping with all this quite well, I have some problems with vaginal dryness. So, I was wondering if any of you could recommend me what to do on this matter. Should I take some sort of HRT??? Or some other meds??? Maybe lubricants?? I would really like to hear your comments. Thanks in advance.

Good day. It happens. Vaginal dryness during menopause is something that a lot of ladies have a problem with. Sure, before anything, I would strongly recommend you to talk to your gynecologist to see what is the cause in your case and what you should do about it. Anyway, there are some natural treatments for this issue. Estrogen can help you a lot. You can use it in the shape of the pills, which you can get in any pharmacy store. I  know that my mom used it and it helped her a lot. She also was way healthier than before. I know that this dryness issue can be a silent problem and it can cause a discomfort, but don't worry, there is a cure for it.

Lack of oestrogen during menopause can cause dryness of the vaginal tissues making intercourse uncomfortable or even painful. HRT can alleviate this but even if you cannot take systemic HRT you may still be able to use oestrogen topically to the vagina. This comes in a few forms - creams, waxy pessaries or small tablets. They can be used long term. That is one option. Another one, if you do not prefer the provious, is usage of over the counter bio-adhesive vaginal moisturizers. They are very effective too. Replens and Senselle are the best known. Also, some women have found a Tea tree oil based product helpful – third option.
