Hi & Help!

Im 49 yrs old. Going on the second period I've missed. Have usually been regular but lately some months i would get it twice,3 weeks later, etc. Had it in april/may no june & next week no july. Ive been nuts lately, eating like crazy, irritable, hot & sweaty in the house with the air conditioner! Bowels have changed and my chest hurts! I have had 2 periods since I have had sex. So,could this be premenapause, menapause or what are the chances i could be pregnant? I really have no-one to discuss this with,so any suggestions or comments would be So helpful! Thanks!!

Hi travler4, I think i may want to welcome you to the menopause club, i think. But first things first. I am 54 years old and have not had a period since i was 46....yay! I started my decent into menopause when i was just 44. I had everysingle sympton that you are describing. Sounds like you are having hot flashes as well. I used to eat like a pig, had serious mood swings and started to like food and spices that i couldn't stand at one time.

When i say first things first, you should probably take a pregnancy test, anything is possible. You should then see your doctor and get some blood work done, this can determine where your hormone level is. By the time i went to see my doctor my level was totally depleted. Ugh! You may have a period like every 2 months, then it will go every 3 months until you don't get one at all. If you have been regular thru out your life, i would say that you are probably getting into pre menopause with menopause not to far away Your doctor can give you something to make your transition a little easier. Try Premarin, you can buy this over the counter. It is to help with the hot flashes and moodiness. I used to put my head in the freezer in the middle of winter!

If it is menopause, embrace it, it's our rite of passage. No more annoying periods, ever. The ability to enjoy sex with no worries of pregnancy is wonderful too.

Just remember, we are not getting older, we are getting better!

Do women sometimes get a little crazy during menopause & do stupid things? I've been a little crazy lately. How long can menopause last? Connie

I am 38 years old and have been having my period every 3 weeks. I used to go every 30 days and for the last few months it has changed. Is this perimenopause?
