So, I have a mirena in and i checked the strings yesterday and they were there but when i checked the strings there was slight bleeding. Well i had intercourse and my boyfriend didnt pull out cause i have the mirena well i was cramping really bad today so i checked and now cant find the strings, so if it fell out sometime after intercourse i still should have no worries about pregnancy right (or does it not kill off the sperm on contact and is there still a chance of pregnancy or how would that work with the mirena and it fallin out.

Well, it depends on when did your Mirena fall out. There is a chance of pregnancy. You should use a backup birth control from now and see your gynecologist to see if you need new Mirena. And do the pregnancy test, just to make sure. But don't do it right now, wait at least for two weeks. Take care.

I think that its just that your cervix gotten swollen and that is what the bleeding, cramping and the mess with the strings. Since Mirena is hormonal birth control method you definitely were protected even if it wasn't in the place - it still did release the hormones that stopped the ovulation this and in the past months. Just take into account the fact that it takes several months for women to regain their fertility after Mirena removal, it changes your body that much. But you will need a checkup to see if everything is still in place - the cramping and the blood still could have dislodged the IUD.
