So I have one child.  And I've had Mirena in place for 4 years now.  Never had any problems with it at all!  Well this year I lost my period due to the Mirena and the fact I started working out enough to stop my period.  Well my period came back after not running for 2 months.  Been having it every month for the last 3 months.  Well this month rolled around and I noticed it was 3 days late.  Well since last week i've been having some mild cramping. I figure it was my period trying to start.  My breast are a tad tender on the sides.  Well now i'm 8 days late and for the last 3 days I"ve been having severe cramping right where my IUD is.  It comes and goes once I start working.  Which I'm a bartendar so I stand on my feet for hours.  I took a pregnancy test 7 days ago and it came back negative...........  I already went to the doctor and he said I just needed to go see my Gyno.  But that wont be for another week or two.... I DON"T KNOW WHAT TO DO!!  And I don't know what's going on???

This sounds to me like your ob-gyn is suspecting that Mirena might have slipped or moved out of its place so that's why he referred to gynecologist which will be able to examine if the IUD is still in place and if it's working properly. This is not uncommon situation even though I completely understand why it's worrisome and bothering, considering work and everything. Hormones from the Mirena are the ones who have direct effect on the uterine tissue that breaks apart and bleeds, so if something is not right with the levels of hormones that Mirena is releasing, your periods would get all messed up.
