Hi, i am 17 years old and have been on the contraceptive pill for 7 months and in a strong rel with my bf for over 9 months. i recently missed one pill which is not like me AT ALL and did not notice until the 10th day which means i have had one less pill in my cycle. However, i have had sex everyday. i am getting sicky feelings sometimes and am really tired and hungry but i have two weeks before i get my period. i have had a negative pregnancy test which was on the 13th day so i know it was early. i am really worried, my parents would kill me but i need to know! im doing exams and it is driving me crazy . . .please help anyone!!! xxx

Hi honey! Missing pills is VERY common! And missing 1 is NOT going to negate the effectiveness of the pill! The pill not only stops the ovulation process, but also thins your uterine lining (some do anyway) so that even a conceived egg cannot attach itself to the uterine wall! So don't worry OK!? And IF there is that .1% chance, you need to wait about 21 days after the "oops" to be able to tell with a HPT! As this is enough time for the HCG Levels to be high enough! So just relax OK? my period started 14 days ago and ended 9 days ago, i usually have two days of starting my new pill packet before my period ends. it was as normal. my period only ever starts on the sat or sun when i stop taking my pill on the weds. i still have 8 pills left in my packet and then my next period would not normally start til the sat which is in 11 days time. this is why i am having trouble waiting!

last period began on the 5th of june and ended on the 9th. i started my new pack of pills on the 8th. i think i missed the pill on the 17th, 18th or 19th. i did not take the pill i missed i just carried on as normal. my next period is due on the 3/4th july. (it normally starts on the sat even though i finish my pills on a weds) thanks x

I swear honey you are FINE! Because the pill STOPS ovulation! So most women ovulate 14+ days after the 1st day of their period! BUT the process starts several days before! So think of it like this! The missed pill would NOT have enough power to start ovulation! It is 1 pill! Thus the reason why you have 7 sugar pills - or VERY low hormone pills! These are to let your period come on - NOT the ovulation part! So just hang in there, the more you stress the more pressure you put on your body and this can delay your period! So just try and relax! NO ONE can say with 100% assurity that you are NOT pregnant! As the pill is just over 99% effective! BUT I will say with 99.9% that you are NOT OK?

ok, so without any lectures please . . .i missed another pill. i think it was within a week of the first one as well. i have been off of my pill for 2 days now and period is not normally happening for another 3 days. I am now worried about this because I have got bigger boobs and they hurt, i am also needing the loo a lot and my back hurts. However, i dont know if i am worrying so much i am making this happen. Please help, the next 3 days are a looong time!

It all depends on when you missed the 2nd one! IF it started ovulation, and you ad sex then, this could be a problem! The more you miss, the more you are likely to get pregnant! Did you take a replacement one as soon as you found out, or did you let it go? IF so then you will have to wait for the 3 days! When did the 2nd miss happen, and did you have sex at that time? Also just a thought, perhaps you should look into a nuva ring or an implant etc. Because you are not the only one that misses pills! And ALWAYS have your partner wear a condom EVERY time - and to ejaculate outside the body into the condom! This will help with any Ooops's!

It ALL depends on if the 2 missed pills caused you to ovulate! IF you did and you had sex continually around that time, your possibilities could be quite HIGH! So you will need to wait unfortunately and see!
