Hi, I am 47 years old female with mitral valve prolapse diagnosed four months ago. I have high blood pressure, but I take medicines to control it. Do I have increased chances for stroke?

Mitral valve prolapse (MVP) is seen in a multitude of disorders and, in most instances, it is generally associated with other heart disorders. In some periods it was thought that it merits much more attention as it is related to chest pain, dyspnea, anxiety, and panic attacks. Later it was found that only palpitations can be taken as sure sign of risk for developing heart attack. However, it has been proven that, patients with MVP are at risk for endocarditis, mitral regurgitation (MR), mitral valve replacement (MVR) surgery and other heart complications. But, they are endangered of stroke too.
