My mother has rheumatoid arthritis. Joints affected in her case are those off hands, spine and hips. She complained often of morning stiffness and movement problems. As the day went on, stiffness was replaced by pain. For a long time she has been taking Advil, but she will start with new medication, Motrin and I have to know which is better, Motrin or Advil?

These two are medications that deal effectively with rheumatoid arthritis, but their mechanisms are completely different. Motrins side effects include respiratory infections, while Advil could cause ulcers as a consequence of inhibition of prostaglandins that protect the mucus of stomach and some allergic symptoms too. I guess she should listen to the doctor when it comes to the drug choice.
