I have tried everything, I'm 14 and all I want is to have a normal life where I can breathe. My mother says to take cough medicine and drink water and that I'm not dying but it feels like I am. I love my parents and they care for me but I wish this was gone its been 2 years. It all started with Bronchitis on Christmas day then a few weeks later I got influenza, then another couple weeks went by and I got pneumonia, then I got colds and sinus infection for weeks on end. It calmed down and it's coming back again I can't even breathe like a normal person, talking is horrid, I'm failing my gym class and this is killing me.

Wonderful response. I think the alkaline diet fixes sooo many ailments! Much of what is wrong with us is our inability to purge the toxins we are constantly eating and breathing and drinking daily. Diet helps massively.

I can relate. I’m 33. The day before thanksgiving I got strep throat. By Christmas I had bronchitis. By New Year’s Day I had Flu type A. And it’s been hell since. Always coughing and gagging on the mucous. It’s loud and super uncomfortable. It’s hard to breath. Hard to talk. All I get out is thick white to clear mucus. My doc told me it’s cause my immune system is weak from the flu still 3 months later. 4 days ago she gave me antibiotics, and antiviral med, a handful of vitamins and probiotics. Also she gave me fluctonase and wants me to flush my sinuses with a netti pot twice a day. - It’s starting to cause me some big problems. I work hard physically and I’m just dead tired and out of breath all because of this. i have never had acid reflux issues. And currently feel no acid reflux symptoms that I’m aware of. Anywho I hope ya found relief by now. It’s miserable.

I've had the same problem for 2 years with mucus in my throat or at the back of it. I have been seen by a ENT, Gastreologist, alergy doctors, Not just one ENT or Gastreologist, but two of each and got no answer of what's going on in my throat. It is literally taking a lot out of me where i'm not able to function normally. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I hope that we can get some sort of relief from this nasty bug.

The antibiotics from chronic bacterial sinusitis, coupled with the pain medicine from sinus surgeries, actually were the culprits in the beginning of LPR and Gerd from me and more so the LPR at the onset. It took another ENT (the first one wanting to go back in for another sinus surgery perhaps - NO! a third one in two years) to tell me to see a GI doc who did an upper endoscopy and no damage at this juncture - put me on strongest PPI and H2 and after awhile massive stomach bloating and weight gain which basically makes the problem worse! I weaned off of them and am suffering silently until I see my ENT again whos website has a link about melatonin and alginates being the latest in Gerd/LPR treatment. I also have a Graves which basically ups the anxiety issues - not so good - lol. However, WE are responsible to get these doctors to check possibilities - in hindsight first sinus surgery necessary (deviated septum and it did help snoring) but second one not so much and would get infections that were serious and the antibiotics about tore my stomach out. Have since been tested and now can take penicillin (which I thought I was allergic to as a child but found out no) if something needed but seriously anything that effects the stomach (including anti-anxiety meds! they relax the sphincter) well, it effects everything. Watching fat intake - very lean chicken or turkey in smaller amounts and alot of non-processed foods like fresh fruit and veggies and I use extra virgin olive oil in moderation - real whole grains and yes not snacking or eating a few hours before bed. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't - found after sleeping deeply I wake up with the acid and I think its because of tossing and turning - have a wedge but I slide off easily - hah. You have to maintain a sense of humor and realize there are worse things and try to cope and definitely no soda or carbonated anything - I have half caff coffee with lower acid brands because I have given up everything else and if I don't have some caffeine no one will want to be around me - :)

Ive been going through the same thing for a year now. Throat surgeon recently told me acid was comming up, probably during sleep. Gave me rx Pantelone(?) and said stop eating 1 to 2 hrs before bed and sit up for at least an hr after meals. Good luck...

I get phlegm so thick I vomit, and I've always had stomach problems since a child (attributed to hypersensitivity permanent side effect of ADHD meds)
I smoke Marijuana and it's all good afterwards.
