I have a muscle just on the left side of my sternum at the bottom of my left rib cage that flutters on and off all day. Usually lasts for five or ten seconds then stops for a minute sometimes less sometimes longer then starts again. any ideas?

I believe the effect is known as "fasciculation" and is usually painless. In my case, the fluttering occurs on the right rather than left side but, otherwise, is positioned almost precisely as you have described. I suspect that my situation is induced by the neurotoxic effects of chemotherapy I am undergoing for mid-stage lung cancer. One of the agents I am taking is know to cause variable neuropathy, so it is not surprising. Perhaps your situation is simply a side-effect of some medication(s) you may be taking. Talk to your doctor.
