I am so sorry to hear this, I am still using their medicine and having a follow up
in two months, I had Doctor Chen and she was great.
I even didn't know that they used a needle, did not feel it and her English is very good,
she really cared for her patients and it is now two weeks ago that I was treated.
Still have some swelling but it goes better.
I hope you give Doctor Chen a chance to make it better, she know what she doing.
Good luck to you

Hi Logical Nonsense,
Thank you so much for getting back with your information and experience thus far. I have been trying to research them and decide whether to pursue treatment at their clinic but there is almost no information on them online which makes me hesitant. As well, I have tried to follow up on their claimed collaborations with universities (even Columbia University here in the US) and have had no luck with either the universities themselves, or the NATCM clinic who has ignored all of my emails regarding further information on these collaborations or if they have any references there (specific people they worked with etc). While they answered all of my other emails pertaining only to the treatement, they have not answered any of my emails regarding this. Consequently, it is very helpful to hear from people who have actually attended the clinic. It would be nice to know what some of the medicines they are using were in terms of getting opinions from my primary doctors but I understand that you are not sure as there was a large language barrier. I hope the healing process gets better and any updates would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Dinie!
Thanks so much for telling about your experience. It is nice to hear someone who had their process work so well. I am looking at attending the clinic but have had a couple questions regarding the type of medicines used, etc. and have had a hard time communicating with the receptionist. Do you know if Dr. Chen happens to have a direct email address at the clinic? Also, are you able to request a particular doctor and did you have the same doctor throughout your whole treatement? Lastly, can you tell me her first name? I think I will get in touch with the clinic and see if requests for certain doctors are possible, but want to be sure I have the right Dr. Chen! Thanks again and glad to hear things went so well!

best advice I can give is to ask the doctor you see at the Natcm clinic to give you a breakdown of what he feels the problems are and what "medicines" and procedures he/she will use to treat the condition in writing and English and then take that to your family doctor or specialist and have them look it over first. If they cant provide this info I would be hesitant about proceeding.
I did feel good and like things were getting better while I was being treated, there wasn't allot of pain during treatment but 2 weeks after i stopped it all came right back only worse. Again not saying it doesn't work as i did speak with people there who it did work for but like I said before my biggest concern would be the what if it doesn't work? because they are giving you injections designed to make areas of skin fall of there is a serious chance for complications. I would want to know what those are and what the worst outcome could be and this is were it all starts to get grey as they cant seem to answer that.
Just make sure to get as much info as possible and discuss it with your doctor first and it should be fine. If you doctor sees any possible problems he will tell you i am sure.
Once I get all the answers and feeling better I will post the findings and results

Doctor Chen is really a very good doctor and she does care for her patients, we are still in contact and about 2 months I have to fly back to Vancouver for a check up. When you mail Doctor Chen, give her your personal email or phone number, she for sure will answer, that is my experience

Hello, I feel I really have to speak out about asking your doctor for any advice that you can really count on. Asking your doctor to comment on NATCM is like asking a guy to tell you what it's really like to have baby. He or she is completely unqualified to comment. Their usual approach is to cast doubt by saying the procedure is not sanctioned or approved by the medical profession (the official line as dictated by their professional associations). The majority of the docs will not take the time to determine whether the NATCM procedure has merit or not. They are trained to act confident and always have some sort of official sounding answer even when they don't have a clue. The situation gets worse. A good friend of mine is a doctor and major landlord in the area. He runs a medical operation with approx 8-9 doctors. They have threatened to take their practices elsewhere if he brings in any kind of natural or alternative medicine. During their meetings they argue about how alternative medicine will take their business away. They also resent the fact that thei patients are moving towards making alternative medicine their primary healthcare practitioner. The discussion never revolves around what is best for the patient. Are there great doctors? Absolutely! My MD is Romanian trained and truly has his heart in the right place. He always takes the alternative route wherever possible. But as a group they understand that preventative medicine through natural and alternative methods is their arch enemies. Make no mistake about it. There are trillions of dollars at state. Do you really want your health and happiness placed in the hands of professionals with this many mixed incentives? P.S. What's a doctor truly good for? If fall 8 stories and I am stil lalive then take me to a doctor. If I get caught in a gang war and end up with 14 bullet holes then take me to a doctor. Pound for pound regular medical doctors are great for severe trauma where you would be dead otherwise. They are poorly trained to prevent the problem from happening in the first place.

Hi Cbello,
Thanks for your thoughts. I understand that you wrote the article on NATCM for Vitality magazine. Can I ask if you were able to get in touch with/substantiate any of the institutions they claim to have collaborated with? As there is no info on them to be found besides their own website, I would like some sort of reference backing up their statements other then anonymous people online prior to committing to traveling to the clinic and going in blind. So far the only universities which they state they have worked with that have written me back have no record or knowledge of NATCM, although they say there may be some section of their university which has worked with them that they are unaware of...so really, who knows. However I have tried to contact NATCM several times to get specifics regarding what departments they worked with at any of the universities or educational institutes and they will not respond (while they have responded to all other emails). I would love to know if you were able to track this information. It would be very helpful to have some sort of confirmation as to their statements made on their website.

OK OK, can you give me some scientific reasearch on the practices of the NATCM clinic? Can you tell what is used in the "medicine" or how where their is some data on specific cases and results. You talk about money and practices.....please remember the charge for this procedure to me was 2800$ not cheap The surgery is free!!!!! My Doctor is not only my doctor but a close family friend who's house i have been to for dinner on many occasions, he delivered me as a baby 37 years ago and delivered my sister and is still very close with my whole family. When I go see him I trust him completely and he will do whats best for ME not for the system.....this i am sure of. Stupidly I did not consult him about the clinic prior to going to the NATCM clinic but instead after. At the time I went to the clinic I was only left with one other option SURGERY. After having researched the surgery I knew I was willing to try anyhting and so to the NATCM clinic I went as I had already tried dozens of creams and even BOTOX injections to no avail. Again I will state......I am not saying it doesnt work, I just find it very odd that 3 different doctors laughed when I told them what I paid. I also find it very odd that there is virtually no reasearch available on the net and even my family doctor (who is chinese) has never even heard off them. I thought the Chen family was famous in China He even went and tried to get some info and wasn't able to find anything more than I could. If i run a business and this business helps people who are suffering and has 90+ percent rate i would want to promote the hell out of it. I would basking for goverment funding for studies amongs other things. None of these are the case with the NATCM. They are happy to remain unheard of and speak limited english as long as they can keep taking your money. Also how come nobody can tell me what was in the injection and why is their no information on their site about it. All they tell you is that yes we can fix it but not how or with what. Not to mention would it be so hard for them to work with your family doctor.....what is their to hide? Its funny.....in most cases hemerrhoids or fissure will heal themselves only in severe cases is surgery needed. I wonder how many of the 90% would have healed on their own and how many were healed by the treatment. Again I am not saying it doesnt work.......just use caution and get as much info as possible first and consult a reconized doctor first. they are reconized for a reason!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all,
I am on day 4 of the treatment. I am staying at the Monte Carlo Inn Hotel, as I am from out of town I am planning on staying at the hotel for 2 weeks. My experience so far is not too bad. Day one Dr. Chen examined me and told me I had a fissure and a thrombosed hemorroid, and it would take about 2 weeks for the treatment. I started the treatment that same day.
Day 2, was the worst. I expected that. My case involved acupunture and a huge amount of herbs, ointments, cotton balls, and who knows what else. Acupunture didn't really hurt. However the "medicine" they insert in you starts to become "active" only 10 minutes after and that hurst a lot. I took advils and tylenols every 4 hours to control the pain. The doctor told me that I would feel better in the morning.
Day 3, I woke up and the pain had almost dissapaired, and to my surprise, almost all of the hemorroid was gone. Only a little flat piece of skin that was raised. I was bleeding though. I went back to the clinic. The doctor said everything is normal (even the bleeding).
Today, I am still bleeding and I am a bit concern about it. I guess this is too early for me to say if it will work or not. I will have to finish the treatment and hope for the best in the long run.

Hello out of town, don't worry about the bleeding, I was very concerned also but it is just the hemorrhoids that bleeding not the body, they need to dry out and then they will fall off, I had bleeding for 3 days and still sometimes I do have a little blood with my bowel movement, my treatment was three weeks ago. I was lucky and didn't need to take pain killers, the pain wasn't that bad but it is very uncomfortable. I am back home now for one week and it goes better every day, I had mixed hemorrhoids, 3 big ones external and two internal, I feel so much better. They treated me for two weeks and after 6 days of treatment all the hemorrhoids were gone, still have a little swelling but no pain.I have trust in this doctors and my doctor in Vancouver spoke very good English, she showed me how much she did care of her patients, wish you all the best.

Hi Dinie, Thanks a million for your encouragement. I was a bit depressed today since there was bleeding this morning during bowel movement. My treatment is in fact to correct complications with a surgery I had done in January (over 2 months ago). I had a general surgeon who removed a skin tag/hemorrohoid I had since I gave birth to my babies 8 years ago. After that surgery I developed huge hemorrhoids and a fissure and all sort of problems. In Toronto, they told me they can fix that. Dr. Ivy treats me every day. She suggested I stay the full course of 2 weeks despite the inconvenience and expense of staying in a hotel. I will do that. Her English is a huge barrier. I ask a lot of questions but I am not sure if she understands completely well. She cares for sure. She drove me back to the Hotel knowing I was out of town and had no access to a car that day. Based on the people I spoke in the waiting room, I would say it is rather 50/50 success rate. Not sure where the 98% comes from. What do you mean by "I'm back home now"?. did you have to travel to Vancouver from another city? was this a consideration by your doctor for the length of the treatment? did they give you "medicine" to continue with the treatment on your own afterwards? many thanks!

You are right Dr. Ivy is lovely but her English is quite bad. I basically asked one of the nurses (tall woman) to translate for me every time I needed it, and it worked out very well - Dr. Ivy didn't seem to mind. I would really suggest doing that because otherwise you're really left in the dark. Also I found they gave you information about what to expect, etc. when you asked - but if you didn't, they said very little. They have faith in what they are doing and don't say much about it.

Yes, I am original from the Netherlands but live since 8 Years in Arizona, USA.
I had hemorrhoids for 38 years, I got them after child birth from 6 children, but the last two years the pain was no fun, the doctors here want a surgery but I know that the hems coming back after a while and that the surgery is very painful and have risks also.
We did a lot of research and found the Chen family and we were ready to go to Toronto but than we heard that another Chen doctor had her clinic in Vancouver, she is the sister from doctor Chen in Toronto.
My doctor spoke good English and explained me everything.
One day after she started to try out the hems she told me that it would start bleeding and that I would be in pain, the pain was not that bad but the bleeding was bad, we called her at night and told her about the bleeding but she assured us that it was normal.
I had that for 3 days, not a little blood but a lot, but all that blood is coming out of the hems so they dry out.
Now 3 weeks after the treatment, I still lose a drip of blood after a bowel movement but no pain, the skin have to heal and is sensitive but make sure you take a lot of fiber, start drinking whaetgrass, start the morning with a glass of warm water with honey and lemon. It will get better.
I can do everything again and really feel good.
If you not understand your doctor, ask for somebody you can understand, they are very good people and very loving people.
If you have questions you also can ask for doctor Chen, I don't know him but like I said, his sister have a clinic in Vancouver and if he speaks English like his sister that will be more comfortable for you.
Hang in there, it will go better.
The doctor did give me medicine for 2 weeks for treatment at home, and I have to fly back in May for a check up, untill now, I don't regret my treatment, there is also a guarantee that if the hemorrhoids coming back in 5 years they or give you the money back or they will treat you for free.
Stay positive is what Doctor Chen use to tell me because I was scared like you after the bleeding but she helped me a lot.
Do you have anybody with you to support you while you doing the treatments?
I hope so, it is no fun to be in the hotel all the time by your self.
Take care and if you need some support, just write here, have a great night.
