I read through all the patients experience days before I went to the clinic for my termination. I'm like every one else before they have it done, very nervous and uneasy. Make sure this is what you want to happen. My boyfriend and I thought it over for two weeks before we made the decision.
I'm only sharing my experience for others to know what and what doesn't happen during the physical part of the medical (pills) termination. Some have the same symptoms, then others done. Just depends on your body.
My experience-
basic info: I'm 21 and have no children. This is my 1st pregnancy. Was 8 weeks pregnant.
My appointment was Tuesday 8/28 I went to the clinic with my boyfriend and family (planned parenthood) and was really nervous. Sat in the waiting room for maybe 30 minutes before getting called back by one of the nurses. Also there's a security guard who checks your bags and uses a metal detector on you and whoever you're with to make sure you don't have anything or anyone before you does.
1st The first thing that happened was the ultrasound. I luckily didn't have to do the probe (vaginal one) this time. They did the regular ultrasound. It went by pretty quick. I asked what the size was and the nurse said the size of the tip of your finger or a raspberry. Then after that they ask what you what to do for the follow up to make sure the pills works. My options were having a probe ultrasound done or having blood drawn. (Those were my options, not sure if its the same for every other health facility) I picked the probe cause I hate having blood drawn. It all happened so quick. Didn't have much time to decide. The whole clinic experience was rushed.
2nd After the ultrasound I was moved to a different room for checking blood type and vitals. They pricked my finger, only hurt for maybe 30 seconds then checked blood pressure. Mine was low blood pressure more than likely because of the pregnancy. Also they ask if you're on any medications and have any health problems.
3rd After that I sat in a person waiting room, for literally 40 seconds. One of the staff members took me to the their office and just asked questions they normally ask. (If you're living in a safe environment and more personal questions. I set up my follow appointment at that time. They wanted to see me within the next week. My appointment is set for this Tuesday 9/5.
4th I was brought to another room to speak to the physician about the pills and taking the first pill. She was rushed it seemed. I felt rushed signing my name on the papers which was only two. But she told me everything i needed to know. After she told me everything and what to expect when I take the second set of pills the next day, she had me sit in the waiting room (something about 40 minute Kansas wait time or whatever) and during that time you decide I guess last minute if this is what you want or not.
5th Got to the main waiting room and paid for the whole thing. Thats when I had to pay. i'm assuming thats how it normally goes. The wait time seemed like hours. The nurse called me back so I can take the first pill. While I was back there they give you a brown bag that has all your meds for the next few days in it. They gave me 1 antiobiotic Azithromycin that was taken the first night so no infections happen. 2nd pill box was zofran for the nausea, you only get TWO 4mg tablets. Then the 3rd (last) pill box was the second set of pills to the abortion. 4 pills to put inside your cheeks. two on each side for 30 minutes then you take a drink of water and rinse the rest down.
The first pill I took was Mifepristone. This will just stops the pregnancy from continuing on. Then after that the physician told me exactly what to do the next day again and I got to leave. The whole process took 3 - 4 hours. (being in the clinic)
