I have been a diabetic (type 1) for over 20 years, while I was younger my control over it was less perfect. As a result I have lost a lot of sensation in my feet and find them cold feeling. Sometimes they literally are very cold to the touch, and also painful. Especially at night. I compare the experience to my feet feeling like blocks of wood. Still there but disconnected somehow. I am on the Kidney transplant list and will also get a new pancreas during the surgery. I am trying very hard to keep my diabetes under control but it is still very difficult. Are there any treatments avaiable that will help relieve some of the symptoms in my feet? Is the nerve damage irriversible? Will it get any better after the surgery?
