I'm having my tonsils and adnoids out this Friday (June 27, 2008) and I'm nervous about it. I don't do well at all with pain and I'm allergic to codeine. I'm afraid to say anything when it comes to pain meds cuz it's a big issue around here. I don't want to be looked at like I'm a drug addict or something. How would I approach the subject to my doctor and what would I say?? Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated!!

you are bound to be nervous, operations are terrifying experiences!

your doctors should know you are allergic to codeine and will give you alternative meds. they wont let you be in agony, just mention you have a low pain threshold and if needs be will they give you pain relief to help it go away.

good luck for friday :-)
