No heartbeat on the ultrasound at 6 weeks, Could the doctor be wrong? What will happen?

Good luck everyone. I feel your distress. I am 6 wks and three days past lmp, I had my first ultrasound yesterday and there was only a gestational sack. No fetal pole or heart beat. I have been booked in for an ultrasound in a weeks time and don't know how I'm going to wait that long. My sonographer was lovely and said it was possible that baby wasn't as far along as we had previously thought. Very distressing though but hoping is possible as hpt only tested positive day 13 post possible ovulation. My hcg is 3195 which is classified by my dr mildly normal for 6 wks. Baby measures less than 5.5 wks hcg wld be ok for that gestation. Driving myself crazy waiting and looking for a glimmer of hope. Best of luck to everyone.

so iam having the same problem s some of you i went in an got an u/c  on tues and they said i was about six weeeks and they said they couldnt get a heartbeat so they gave me information about  a miscaarage, meanwhile i havent had cramps or even been bleeding an havent had my period in two months. so i went back thursday and did a hcg level and that had a high hormone level and i lso got another ultra sound. and they said i wwas about six wks along to they couldnt get a heartbeat and they also said they seen to egg yolks in there. and told me it could be a failure pregnancy! i dont even know what to think any opens.

Hi i have had to U/S
One on the 19th of september n i was susposed to be 7 weeks along but they mearured the sack at 5 weeks. i then went back for another on the 30th, the measurements are correct n show the sack has now got a yolk n growing normaly, but not feotal pole or heart beat. The U/S results said it was a non embryonic pregnancy and i should speak to my doctor about a D/C.
I have been reading all over the net trying to find some information n hope.
Posts from other women have said you dont find the heartbeat till 8-9 weeks but my doctor is saying it is alreadya failed pregnancy!!
I demanded another U/S so i need to make another app. i will book it so i am 9 weeks almost 10 so it is a definate that if they cant see the baby i know i could then make a choice about D/C.
Any others in my position? this is my 2nd pregnancy. Plz help!

i went into the hospital after i found out i was preg. due to i thought iwas having pains and though i was going to miscarry. they did a ultrasound and found a cyst on my ovary. they SAID they didn't here a heart beat but i was roughly six weeks. after that i went into my first prenatual appointment when i was nine weeks, everything was good, i went in the next day to have my second ultrasound, the dr that was doing it came in and gave me a really bad vibe, he was lecturing me about how birth control is sooner or later going to fail ( i was on BC and when i found out i was preg. my boyfriend and i where on the edge of what to do, we then decided to keep baby together and we where very excited about it!!) he then started the ultra sound and was talking to me like everything was great and dandy, after that he turned the screen towards me and thats when i seen my beautiful baby! but then the dr said there was no heartbeat, and he couldn't see any movment. .... and that iwas going to miscarry. :( but i swear and granted he is highly educated then me but i swear i saw a heart beat, and i pointed it out to him and he said no (and let me mention that before all this i asked if i could have a picture and he said he didn't know how to do that.... ??) then he sat down and started pushing a D&C on me. he didn't even metion that i could miscarry naturally ?  i then left that apt, and went straigh to anther dr office, the dr there just had my files faxed and looked them over and said no im sorry, your going to miscarry.    but then she metioned how when i went to my very first ultra sound they did hear a heartbeat but i was supposivly only (barley) six weeks ? they never told me that there... i would love to know why none of this information is getting told to me.  

it has been a week and one day. i have not had any bleeding, spotting, cramping, nothing.... i'm still hungry, and tierd with breasttenderness.... i finally found a good dr. and said i would like to get a D&C done because i can't wait through this any more, and he said he wanted to check my blood levels before we do anything.

is there a chance that this could work out ??? any opions or advice please!!!

I measured small at 5 wks 5 days, I was suppose to be 7 weeks. The fetal heart beat was 58. I had light pink spotting the morning of the first ultra sound. My hcg levels were tested twice before my second appointment and looked normal. My second appointment a week later the baby had not grown and no heart beat was detected. I was told I lost the baby. I hope this helps people looking for answers not to scare anyone but honest answers are hard to find.

Yes. My usually positive OB told me before i left "now don't be surprised if you start bleeding before we see you back". pretty much she's already thrown in the towel. I haven't had any bleeding or cramping either. She treats the idea of my dates being off as a SMALL possibility compared to being a m/c. I've been a wreck. Even more i'm dying to get results of blood work today to find out if my HGC levels are stil rising or haven't risen enough or even dropped. You'd think they'd be at least somewhat sympathetic considering our already emotinal state. I'm right there with you! Good luck to you.

i am having a smae issue....its my first baby and as per my second scan its 7.2weeks but thr is still no fetal pole and yolk sac .....m too scared ...doctor had adviced me to go for an abortion which m not willing to do . i never had any issues with my periods ever and ever since i came to knw i am pregnant i hve been taking complete bed rest along with required medications and healthy diet. please please help me someone here ...belong to a very conservative family and all are very excited abt this first child of our family .completely devasted and have been crying eversince the scan. I am 34yrs old.

I am in the same position.  I had some bleeding yesterday, which has turned to very light spotting now. Today I went in for my 5 week 6 day ultrasound, and they were not able to detect a heartbeat, but they detected 2 sacs. I am a little afraid, as I didnt know anything like this could happen.  This is my first pregnancy after 6 years, and we are very excitted. I am praying so much that everything turns out for the best.

hi im cynthia saile 21 years old  i am 6 weeks and 4 days pregnant this is my second baby,,i have spoting on my first month pregnancy i never experience this my first baby thats why i go for check up and my ob required do to ultrasound but the result is my baby no heartbeat i was fanic and cry so much and my ob said go for ultrasound again for second opinion  it the same still no heartbeat so my ob give me tablets  7capsule a day with in 2 weeks so i after 2weeks,required again ultrasound let we see if the baby still no heartbit so now i pray so many times wen i wake up until i sleep i go to church everyday pray to god give heartbeat my little angel.,,..i know god always for us,.,,.,..pplz help or give me some advice who people  can remind me  thank so much god bless us

Hi my name is Tabitha and I too feel like I may be in a similar situation .... I went to Ohio to visit family and my mom took me to a place that does nothing but ultrasounds so that we could see the baby for the first time.  Everything was going well until the tech said that she couldnt find the heartbeat!  I measured 7W1D 1.07cm CRL ( GA EDD 10W2D & GA AUA 7W1D )... the tech told me that there was a small chance that it could be too early however she normally at least always sees a flutter there for me to come back in a week to see if the baby had grown at all and if the heartbeat could be seen.

Yesterday i went in for tmy 1st u/s because i have been bleeding dark brown and bright red for the last 3 weeks. Lately ive also been clottig, prompting me to finally call my ob. She said i am 7 weeks, the u/s shows only 6 weeks, 3 days (barey a difference) but the u/s didnt show anything other than the gestational sac. No yolk sac, no signs of a baby, no heart beat. :-((. Today i went in for blood work. I think i am no longer pregnant...the cramps stopped, the nausea is gone, and my energy is back. I pray to my God that everythig is okay. Trying to rest, no sex, no heavy lifting or working out until doc says i can again. My prayers are with all you women going thru this VERY emotional and uncertain time.

i went for an u/s with six/seven weeks and had a heartbeat! im also in canada, i couldnt believe that i could hear the heartbeat so early but when i asked the nurse about it she said it was a good thing because otherwise something would def be wrong!

i feel relief by reading what you posted. i have a 10 year old n lost a baby had her full term but she past away 12 hr later n had 3 miscarriage and now i am finally pregnant again had an u/s but they didn"t see the fetus or a heart beat so i am concern but relief to read that it can happened i m only 6 weeks now and praying that next u/s they see something.thank you

I am wondering if some doc's are off their rockers!! I am 6 weeks 1 day by measurement and the Doctor said she could see no heartbeat and you should by now, she said she diagnosed me as having a miscarriage and said most likely my body will naturally discharge. I asked if it was too soon since my son's heartbeat didn't show up until 7 weeks 4 days, she told me no. I was throughly discouraged and upset. I called to schedule a second opinion and was told right away that it was perhaps too early to detect. Typically sometimes it's not detected until the 8th week. I have had NO signs of bleeding, cramping or pain. I am really nauseous, hormonal, emotional, frequent urination, etc.... all the signs of pregnancy. I am going to wait to see the second opinion doctor and hopefully all is well. Not sure if anyone else has gone thru this emotional "rollercoaster" but it my opinion I should have been told to wait and see what happens. FINGERSCROSSED!!!

I AM IN THE SAME SITUATION AS YOU EXECEPT NO SPOTTING YET. HOW DID THINGS TURN OUT FOR YOU?
