I'm at 6 weeks and 4 days and just had a vaginal and abdominal u/s today. The doctor said he does see some growth from last weeks u/s but he doesn't see a heartbeat at all.  My hcg blood test last week was 1500 and todays came back at 5500. He said it should have been over 15000. My estagen and progestron are about the same but I am taking estrace and cronine to help. I'm to go in again on Monday (4 days from now) to do another blood test and ultrasound to see how much improvement has taken place. At that point if my hcg number has not gotten above 20000 he is going to talk to us about doing a d & c. I'm so heartbroken. I can't seem to stop crying and my poor husband is trying to do and say the right things (like doctors time frame could be wrong or everything will be fine, our baby is just taking it's time developing).  I've read the other posts here and though some others have said not to worry since some heartbeats can't be seen till later weeks, what about no heartbeat and low hcg levels?  The only pregnancy symptoms I have is minor swelling and soreness of breast, occasionally sleepy and hunger pains every hour or so (not the mind numbing hunger kind but just where my tummy is like saying feed me asap). Does it mean my pregnancy is doomed? It has been such a long journey to get to this place that I don't know what I'd do if we have to do a d & c.  The emotional stress is so much alone. Or am I worrying for nothing? Please advise.

Any updates MyDragonFly?? I'm in a similar situation. Went in yesterday for my u/s and was measuring at 6w4d but no heartbeat. I'm going in next Wednesday for another u/s. I started off with low levels and at first weren't doubling but then got better. Last week they were in the 5000s, she didn't check yesterday so not sure where they are now.

i had an solo at 6 weeks 4 days based on my LMP on Thursday. Dr. measured a 6w4d sack but only saw a yolk and no baby or heartbeat.  i had bloodwork done on thursday and yesterday and they called me to compare the two today and they were 40,000 and 48,000 respectively for my hcg levels.  dr wanted them to be at least 65,000 for the second reading and highly suspects an invalid pregnancy.  i will find out thursday when i get a second sonogram but have been told to prepare for a miscarriage at this point and hope for the best.  i will followup with the site on thursday after my appointment and let you know what the results are.

This is very helpful. Had exactly the same problem (although I do see a yolk on the ultrasound contrary to what the doc says) but got my hcg levels checked and again tomorrow and an ultrasound in two weeks. Your post has reassured me

Hi,

I was really satisfied to hear your experience at 13 weeks. I am 8 weeks pregnant and my doctor could not hear the heartbeat. She said that there is no free fluid too and poor decidual reaction. So, it could be a missed abortion. But she said go for another ultrasound. Can you give your feedback too on this? Is it too early or these three things confirm for the missed abortion.

Dont know if I'll be much help to you but I understand what you're going through. I'm also 6 weeks pregnant with 4 days. I went in for my ultrasound 2 times already. While waiting to see the dr. I felt as if I started by menstrual cycle. Luckily it was only for a moment and it was watery and pinkish, but there was no pain or warning signs. The dr. was concerned and went ahead with my first ultrasound. The Dr. said the baby was way too smaill and couldnt see a heart and to come back next week. She put me on bed rest and to go to the emergency if i experienced bleeding with pain. Well, that didn't happen thank goodness! The second ultrasound the baby was still small and couldn't determine if there was a heart beat but itseemed there was some movement. Well, I'm waiting for my 3rd ultrasound this week. I feel sad that I might miscarry but I also have to remind myself that if I worry in any way the baby will be stressed as well. and I might cause a miscarriage. Keep your calm and preocuppy yourself in positive activities. It's hard to do but it's your babies health we need to care for. I'm 45 yrs. old and we've been trying for 17 years to have a baby. Now, that we are pregnant I'm reading inspirational books to to keep my cool and give my baby a better chance to grow in a stress free environment.

I'm curious about why you would tell people that to be realistic every woman has different cycles so some women can ovulate later or earlier obviously you ovulated earlier than most of us women u must have a 25 to 27 day cycle i have a 29-30 day cycle longest cycle being 35 days im currently experiencing some difficulty with my pregnancy my lmp was september 6 2013 and im on 29-30 day cycles now found out on october 1st im pregnant october 17 yesterday morning i went to the er and they did ultrasound saying that i have a gestational sac and a yolk sac but no fetal pole or heartbeat i went to the doctor today who said that is normal as it would've been too Early to see that either a fetal pole or heartbeat i go back for another ultrasound next Thursday the 24th which should show the fetal pole by the way they had me empty my bladder so that would be a reason not to see as much this Early on the doctor said to make sure my bladder is full so they can see everything so that does make a difference just so you know miracles do happen

I had my first u/s today, we thought we were 12 weeks, however the woman said the baby only measured at 6 or 7 weeks and there was no heartbeat.  We have got to go back in 1 week to see if the baby has grown.

I am an emotional wreck, cant stop crying.  This would be our first baby, if we go back and there is no heartbeat am i allowed to ask for another in a weeks time?

I think you are a bit ridiculous. I talked to my ob and she said it is almost impossible to find the heart beat at 6 weeks. that's why most hospitals do not do ultrasounds until 12 weeks

Hi. I had an internal u/s today that measured the baby at 6.2 weeks. No hb was detected. I have had red bleeding and small clots. Minor cramps also. My hcg level was 4452. I have to wait 6 days for another u/s. I think I might have another hcg tomorrow. Is this most likely a miscarriage? Any advice is helpful. Thank you and God bless all you ladies who go through this

I feel a sigh of relief after reading everyones posts. I went in for a U/S 2 days ago and there was no heart beat. I have had days of bleeding in between days with no blood. no cramping though. my HCG levels have risen greatly in 3 weeks. Dr scheduled me for another U/S next week. This is my 2nd baby and he had a strong heart beat at every U/S so im worried. but lets try not to worry and just preoccupy our minds with something else as hard as that is. My dr did not seem concerned with there being no heart beat but that just may be how she has to react to not worry the patient. She said it was completely normal.

I just visited my doctor for my first trans-vaginal ultrasound. I thought I was 7-8 weeks and the baby measured only 6 weeks. There was an egg yolk present and a sac but no heart beat. The doctor did seem concerened and they are having me come back in a week to see if the baby grows. I can't believe I have to wait a whole week and not know if this is a viable pregnancy. I am also worried beacuse I am 36. The not-knowing part is the worst. I am just glad to read that I am not alone. I am just keeping positive and we will wait to see what happens.
