What is the normal fasting blood sugar level for pregnant women? I'm wondering if it is different for women due to having extra blood volume?

Normal fasting blood sugar is approximately the same as for a pregnant woman as it is for one that is not pregnant.  A healthy range of 80-120 mg/dl is normally where physicians like to see for their patients' fasting blood glucose.  The blood sugar should not be affected due to a woman being pregnant and extra blood volume should not be a factor.  It is the same no matter where at in the trimesters for the pregnant woman.  When she does the glucose tolerance test during her pregnancy, this will measure her fasting and her glucose tolerance results at 1 hour, 2 hours, and 3 hours to determine if she has gestational diabetes.  Has anyone had gestational diabetes and what was your experience?
