Hi, I have to check my blood sugar level, but I don’t know what is the standard for sugar, and what is considered pre-diabetic?

You should know that in healthy person it takes about 3 hours after meal to have glucose level back to value before the meal. If you take any food or drink and have diabetes you will need to wait more, before measuring. The normal blood glucose level is between 70 and 110 g/dl, in periods without food intake. The goal in diabetes management is to keep fasting blood sugars under 140 mg/dl. It would be the best if you could monitor blood sugars four times per day. In this way you can follow fluctuations of glucose level before and after meals. And it helps in adjusting diet and medications to achieve desired glucose blood level.
