Hopefully, it will go away, and not be permanent.

WOW!!! I am so glad that I found this post! I was getting a bit nervous. I was at the beach and washed my hands before eating and couldn't believe the tingeling sensation that was in my hands. It only happened when I washed my hands with cold water. Good thing I am not done with the Dox

This post is old but just to add more info. My wife took Doxycline 1oo iv and felt severe pain on her arm, it made her scream and the nurse said that it was ok, that she could print me the side effects and that the pain that she was feeling wasn't one of them. Later the next day she had the tingling sensation on her whole body, it's October 2012 a month later and she feels like needles going through her arm and part of her face, that was her experience with this drug.

I Have had the same reaction, I took 2 Doxy 100mg daily and after a few days i noticed tingling in my hands..almost a prickly cold feeling. Sensitive to water, hot & cold. Also a little shaky in my hands?? Even my toungue feels a little strange when I ate some pop corn. weird!! I cut the dose back to 1 a day and the symtoms have lessend but not gone. I think it is worse if I go in the sun, I dont seem to be getting burnt more easily just the other effects.

This thread is about the numbness not this stupid doxy stuff. Im suffering from a serious problem and the ONE reply I find is filled with spam about a different problem.

After my 2nd day of taking 100mg Doxy every 12 hours my feet started to have that pins and needles sensation. Had sharp pains in my toes, ankles, and tops of feet. The pain would sometimes spread to my calves and wrists. At night, the muscles in my legs were twitchy and jumpy. The worst lasted about 4 days and although it is definitely better, my feet still hurt and are intermittently tingly, over a week after being off the medication. Someone had posted it takes 10 days for the effects to go away and someone else posted it took a year. Although I hope it doesn't take that long, I pray that it goes away for good. My poor body is so angry at me right now.

I am sooo sooo happy I have found this. I have been on 50 mg of doxy once a day for about 6 months and was recently upped to 50 mg twice per day. Soon after upping the dose I started noticing tingling in my left hand, I really thought nothing of it but more recently it is in my hands and feet, mostly the tops as with everyone else and experienced more when I wash with cold water or cold air blows against them. They also feel like they are burning to some extent though they are not hot to the touch. I have been unbelievably worried about this, everything from pinched nerves to MS comes up when you google it but NOTHING about doxy causing this. I think I will be back in the Dr. come Monday and I will be showing him this thread...and stopping with the doxy! Feeling so much better, at least for the moment! :-D

I am having the same reaction as well. I am on day 7 of Doxycycline. I began experiencing the "pins and needles" pain in my hands when I put them in water….doesn't matter if it is hot or cold. Was in the sun today as I had not been warned to stay out of the sun. My skin now feels as if I have poured acid on them. No one has ever told me that this reaction could occur. I also experienced this same feeling about 15 years ago and was told that the tingling feeling is not a side effect of the drug, but I now know that is not true.

I started Doxy 2 days ago for suspected RMSF (blood results not back yet). I was prescribed 100 mg twice daily. About 10 hours after my 2nd dose, I started feeling tingling and needle sensations in my hands and feet. I had very little exposure to the sun and thought it might be an allergic reaction. However, it seems like a pretty typical side affect. Almost all of the initial RMSF symptoms have subsided after starting the Doxy with the main exception of pain behind my eyes when turning my head or looking quickly in a different direction. So it seems to be, thankfully, very effective at treating the RMSF. It's sounding like I'll be dealing with the tingling for the balance of my Doxy prescription and about 10 days after that. I appreciate everyone's input.

I had the same experience however I had a history of mild carpal tunnel and so I assumed it was starting up again not linking the doxy and these symptom together right away. I even had unsuccessful cortizone shots in my wrist after almost completly loosing feeling in my finger tips. The last straw was when I and began feeling the same numbness in my thorasic area. Along with this strange sensation came moderate joint pain which was not familiar in any way to me. The pharmacist did not ever hear of any side efffect like these but after doing some research Im thinking it could be the doxy. My question is...did this numbness ever go away? I hoping this is not a permanent neurapothy. I stopped taking the doxy 3 days ago. I know its been some time since your post but any info or advice I would appreciate. Thanks
