my boyfriend has one testicle that is five or six times larger than the other. It feels more amorphous and squishy than the other, like perhaps there is a growth inside? He doesnt seem to have any discomfort in it, though sometimes he pisses himself, and in general has discomfort holding his urine. He is in his early thirties and otherwise healthy.
Does this sound like a tumor?

Has this always been like that or is this something that occurred lately? One testicle is usually bigger than another but not that big.
Does this growth looks like there is some sort of fluid inside, or another type of mass. I hope you don’t mind me saying but I don’t think it is normal.
The least problem would be a hydrocele. It is a cyst filled with fluid and is situated in the scrotum (sac where the testicle lies), outside of the testicle. It is harmless but it could grow to the proportions where it could cause discomfort and sometimes even pain.
Another possible reason is an indirect inguinal hernia, a condition in which an intestines protrudes through the week abdominal spot, and reaches and extends to the groin or even as long as the testicle. This kind of condition could become dangerous if a blood supply to the intestine is cut and this situation could lead to gangrene and bring your boyfriend into a life-threatening situation.
Another thing I can think of is a testicular tumor that I would certainly want to have it looked at.
He is not planning to have it checked, is he?

He has not always had it. It started growing about 6 years ago. I very much doubt that it is a hernia because he has no pain. It doenst feel like fliud to me, it feels like tissue, but I could be wrong.
He doesnt want to go to the doctor because he doesnt have health insurance. My thinking was that if it were cancerous, we would know by now because he would be sick. Still, I think he should get it checked out.
I have known several women who had benign tumors on their ovaries, sometimes weighing several pounds. Don't men ever get a sort of equivalent? What sort of problems can it cause if so?

The problem with testicular tumors is that most of them are malignant. Now, if you could make a difference and see if the mass belongs to the testicle itself or is extratesticular, which means in the scrotum but not on the testis itself.
Masses that arise from epididymis (tube on testicle) or spermatic cord are most of the time benign fibromas, fibroadenomas, adenomatoid tumors, and lipomas.
Here is a description of a testicular malignant mass: a mass is firm, doesn’t look as if it were filled with fluid and could be tender. It is arising from the testis itselfand is enlarging it.
Now, I don’t want to make any conclusions, only doctors can. It is quite possible it is hernia since the testis grew to be so big, it doesn’t have to be painful, although the most discomfort is felt when coughing and laughing.

Guys,
we could be second guessing ourselves all day, trying to figure out what each of you MIGHT have.
At age 15 (and even at 17) you're not done growing. It is NOT unusual to have differences between testicles... and almost all men have some variation.
The best way to set your mind at rest, is to schedule an exam by a medical professional. You want someone who is familiar with how testicles "normally" feel... and how much variation can occur.
Unless you have an unusually pressing situation (as the first poster does) you'll want to bring this up during your next routine physical (any visit to the doctor's office would be appropriate.)
But again, at age 15, I would not be trying to jump to conclusions based upon what someone else has posted about their conditions.
Good luck. ;-)

hi, I have the same problem.
one of my testis is very large compared to other.
I am 23yrs. I have consulted the doctor. after doing the tests, he said that there is some water content in that.
he suggested me to undergo operation to remove water.
I am working and staying away from home. my mothers health was not good and she is going to have operation next week. I can't ask them to come here to stay in hospital . I want to request my friend to come.
I want to know weather it can be done by laproscopy. if so, how many days I have to be in hospital and how many days I have to take rest at home.

Hi, I'm turning 16 this month, and i have got a huge right testicle, it is probably like 6-8 times bigger than my left testicle and it is a bit "bean shaped" if I could describe it somehow, if i roll it between my fingers under a strong lamp i can see that there are some bumps on the testicle itself. It fills the scrotum like all the way, so i can barely grab the tube that goes to the testicle, because it is so close to the abdomen, i dont really have any pains at all. But it is pretty heavy and it is a bit harder in the middle than it is on the top and bottom. I have had this since i started puberty, probably at age 13? We had some kind of testicle examination at school when i was about 12, back then they said everything was perfectly fine, and i can't remember if i had a bigger testicle back then.
I am so scared of going to the doctor, seriously :-( And I don't dare to tell my parents, i mean it feels like I'm not worth as much, and we have always had like this "balls" joke inside the family. I thought that i would go to the doctor when i turn 18, when my parents don't have to know that i have got it checked..
My left testicle is very small ( atleast compared to the right one ) and it has some fluid surrounding it, so i guess there are problems in both of them.. Man it would be the worst day of my life if I was told that I can't have children or that i have got a tumor.
Please reply on what this could possibly be

Get a strong flash light to back light the scrotum if the testicle has fluid around it it will show up in the light which will pass rght through but you should see a darker area where the testicle itself is located. The liquid will cause abritich area where it refracts the light. If this is the case you have aharkmles scondition called a Hydrocele which can be corrected with a simple outpatient procedure. A neeedle is inserted into the fluid filled sack and the fluid id drawn of fby the doctor. ( of ten time sthis is the case with enlarged testicles so not anything to get up about. It is harmless although if it is excessive it can be uncomfortable and even cause some pain. The procedure is not a 100% cure as the situation often returns and sometimes almost immediately. Many Urologists do not reccomend the procedure unless you are in discomfort or there are other issues. But in any case you should have any other situation attended to by a physician at your earliest opportunity. It does notmake you a defective human fellas. It is not even a particularly unusual occurrance and isn't likely to make you sterile or disfigured or threaten your sex life. But if it i scancer the answer is prompt attention the sooner it is addressed the better your chances to make afull recovery. But remember that most of teh time the situation is quite benign except that testiculat tumors are often not benign so do not delay seeing your health care professional.
BTw the person above who had the painful experience is arare exception. I have had this done twice and the onlyproblem I had was that it recurrred the first time. It was more embarrassing than uncomfortable except the slight sting when th elocal was first applied there wa sno pain and i had no lingering pain per se.

Hi, I am 19 years old and roughly 2 years ago, my left testicle started growing, now it's roughly 5 to 6 times the size of the other one. Sometimes it will be its normal size and then next thing i know, it become really big again. If i sit down and squeeze my legs together, it usually sends the pressure up in my lower abdominal and cause my testicle to become its normal size, and as soon as I get up, it becomes big again. It doesn't hurt but it's uncomfortable. I'm also scared to get checked because I don't know what it is. Any suggestions or thought about it?
