Hello, good people. My friend has been recently diagnosed optic neuritis. As far as I understand him, it isn’t an easy disease. It can have some complications. I would really like to know if this condition can lead to blindness. Is this possible? I would really like to know this piece of info.

Hello. Optic neuritis is also known as retrobulbar neuritis. It is an inflammation of the optic nerve. It can lead to partial or complete loss of vision. Prognosis can vary. Vision impairment can be fixed in eight to ten weeks. On the other hand, sometimes this vision loss can be permanent. I don’t know what the condition is with your friend. I hope he will be all right. Good luck!
