I had this for the last 3 days. Four days ago I ate a Cherry Dipped ice cream cone from DQ. It's waxy with red dyes. Could this be it? How long does it take to pass? I also used some mineral oil last week because I thought I was constipated? Could this be causing the oily drops in the toilet and the bright orangey/yellow stuff on the toilet paper?

This started to happen to me. 2nd time was yesterday. 1st time was a few weeks ago and lasted for a couple days. The first time was after a holiday dinner with some super duper greasy and fatty foods. Can't remember if I ate cashews back then but it's more than likely.

This time it happend a day after polishing off a tin of cashews and raisenettes. That is a winning combo that I refuse to give up. I'll just have to do it in moderation. Oh yeah, I've been taking Hydroxycut as well and doing a ton of cardio. Extra fat + hydroxycut + faster metabolism seems to = oily orange drops. It doesn't stink so it's really just an inconvenience. so if it happened to you and you just ate a ton of nuts and/or are taking some kind of diet pill/supplement then I would say that is the reason. Of course I'm not going to say not to go to a doctor if you want, just that if you have been doing one of these things then you are most likely ok. I'm not worried.

I am a 24 yr old female who has recently started eating more healthy and today experienced the same orange oily discharge that everyone else has.

I'm glad I read this because I was starting to think I am pancreatitis or fat malabsorption, but yesterday I ate a third of a can of cashews. It would appear the fat and oil in the nuts are the culprit.

Thank you!

I am a 20 yr. old female that ate half a bag of cashews last night, and today I had oily stool and gas! Darned cashews! I love em soo much!

this has been happening to me for years and years and without fail every single time I eat a lot of nuts it happens. nuts are the culprit, especially cashews. so don't worry about it. also if you do not consume more than I think 19 grams of carbohydrates your body goes into some mode where this will happen to you also. it happened to me when i was on the south beach diet.

I got this once before years ago, but since it went away in a day, I didn't think anything of it. Today I got it again & decided to research. It's a symptom called steatorrhea, which has a number of causes. If you have persistent abdominal pain, pancreatitis seems to be the biggest culprit. If no pain, next on the list is malabsorption, which can be caused by a number of factors, mostly related to extreme diet. (Since I put myself on a killer diet recently and had a little too much wine last night, this makes sense. Nothing like overtaxing your liver to put you in a malabsorptive state.)

Some people have suggested it's caused by fish or cashews, but if you've eaten both in the past without this problem, then what you ate just prior is simply coincidental (the first time it happened to me, I had eaten some pepperoni pizza, so attributed it to that. I've had plenty of pizza since then without incident.) Just drink some fluids with electrolytes (Pedialyte is good), take some vitamins, and lay off alcohol & anything with high-fructose corn syrup for a while (this includes Vitamin Water. That stuff is ANYTHING but water!).

If it still persists, everywhere I've read suggests seeing a doctor in case it's something more serious like gallstones, bacteria, or a parasite.

I actually just had this problem (orange-y oily droplets accompanying stool) today and was searching for answers. Interestingly enough, over the course of the past few days, I've eaten a 1 lb. jar of cashews.

I'm thinking there's a pretty reliable pattern developing here.

Just now I saw the orange oil drops in my stool so I jumped on here. After reading all the post in this thread I too will have to blame it on cashews. I had Thai food yesterday and I ate Chicken Cashew w/ EXTRA cashews because I love them. Thai food is also pretty oily (it has that reddish oil in it too!) so I think my body is telling me to cut out the Thai food for a while!

It's been happening to me for the last two days. I've also been on the south beach diet for a week now. I think it's the fish. I've read on other sites that fish, cashews all contribute.

This is a new experience for me. I have NEVER had it happen yet. But I ate Orange Roughy (Fish) for the first time a couple of days ago. It was the most buttery tasting delicious fish I had ever eaten...but after doing some research...I discovered that certain fish, mostly Escolar or Butterfish (commonly and disceptively sold as "Cod" or "Orange Roughy") has indigestible oils that cause this problem.
This is a clip from Wikipedia about the effects of eating this fish:

Quote:

Like its relative the oilfish (Ruvettus pretiosus), it cannot metabolize the wax esters (Gempylotoxin) naturally found in its diet, which accumulates to give an oil content in the muscle meat of 18–21%. These wax esters may rapidly cause gastrointestinal symptoms following consumption; however, these effects are usually short lived.

The gastrointestinal symptoms, called "keriorrhoea", caused by these wax esters may include oily orange diarrhea, discharge, or leakage from the rectum that may smell of mineral oil. The discharge can stain clothing and occur without warning 30 minutes to 36 hours after consuming the fish.

I was glad the last post mentioned the consumption of orange roughy. I read all of the posts that mentioned cashews but I hadn't eaten any in a long time. I have been on a low carb diet and had eaten this fish twice in the last few days. I checked out the wikipedia website mentioned and am going to talk to the store where I bought the fish as it seems they may be labelling their fish wrong. I am also going to talk to my naturopath about it and see what she has to say. This is my first experience with the orange oil drops but it is scary. Glad to see it isn't uncommon and hopefully will be short lived

Yup, it's the cashew nuts alright. So glad I found this site. Thought I was going insane, or had a really bad disease! I mean how can orange oil come out of your butt?!! Well it appears that if you eat a whole bag of cashew nuts, it does. (I have never eaten that many cashews in one sitting before and didn't eat anything else out of the ordinary).

I am a 37 year old female, I have eaten tons of cashews/nuts for the past several years and I have never had this orange/redish oil in the toliet. Until I started my diet last week of taking ALLI and eating Lean Cuisne dinners. I have done other diets, but not as extreme as this one I am doing. I'm not eating any nuts either. we are putting our bodies through hell and this is how they pay us back is by making us c**p out oil. LOL
