Hello. I am 36 year-old male and for the last three weeks I have been experiencing some weird urinogenital symptoms like the swelling of the scrotum, discharge from penis and pain while urinating. At first I thought it is some sort of UTI but my friend told me it could also be orchitis. Can you tell me more about this orchitis and what the possible treatment are?

Orchitis is an inflammation of one or both of the testicles, often caused by infection. Orchitis may be caused by numerous bacterial and viral organisms. If this is your case, you need (or lets better say a doctor) need to determine what had caused your inflammation and according to this give you proper treatment. Medications to treat infection are prescribed if bacteria are the cause. Pain medications and anti-inflammatory medications are also commonly prescribed. When orchitis is caused by viral agents, only analgesics are prescribed. Bed rest, with elevation of the scrotum and ice packs applied to the area, is also recommended. But don’t do anything until you are checked by a doc.
